Has walking up and down stairs in your townhouse or home got you down? (okay, you can at least chuckle)

Install an elevator in the townhome? You're the one with the questions Brian. I'm just the answer man : )

Brian, I love living in a one story and so do my knees.. Also no more, "Darn it I left my glasess upstairs, or shoot my slippers are downstairs".

Brian.....AMEN! Only time I take the stairs is when the fire alarm goes off...and then it's 27 flights! I've got a bad knee, so it's not a fun trip!

Also have seen the elevator in townhouses...and it can be a good idea if it's someone that wants to live there as they get older. I've always wondered what kind of maintenance issue they present when they get older? Hmmmmm.

Brian - stairway to heaven is not for me anymore...heaven needs to be on one level for this chick. Clever post!

Brian, I hate stairs, but have them. Eventually when the market comes back, I will trade in for a ranch. ((someday))). Love the way you presented this.

We do not exercise enough. Climbing stairs is one way we are forced to burn some calories.

Brian -- Four years ago my husband and I sold our two story home and bought a one story because of the stairs, for one reason. As people age, you will see them selling their two story homes and buying one story homes.

I feel like having stairs in my home is good cardio exercise, if I keep forgetting things on other floors.

We have stairs in our house but the master bedroom is on the first floor thank goodness. I broke my ankle recently and stairs would not have worked.

Brian, interesting post. My parents recently left their 3 level townhouse and moved to a rambler--although they had to go out of state to get it. The Virginia suburbs are short on that option.

My husband's company, Ardent Home Services, has been seeing more elevators in their home remodel plans. As one client said, 'you can bury me in my backyard!' She was just kidding, of course!

Condos are a great choice if you are looking for a lifestyle change.

I keep fantasizing about converting my sunroom to a first floor master someday--although a condo on a golf course or overlooking the water holds great appeal!

Brian, When my husband had his knee replaced I suggested a rambler - he would have none of it - good exercise for the new knee, Karen

Personally I love stairs, because you can go down them alone or in pairs and make a slinkity sound. Oh, wait that isn't me, that is a slinky. Hey, what would you do with your slinky if you had a house with no stairs?
