I just wanted to share a few photos from the first day of the 2008 Gretna Heritage Festival with you. I didn't get a chance to see everything, but I'm heading back out today to capture some more!

Things kicked off with the West Bank's own Chicken on the Bone on the Market Stage:

Chicken on the Bone

After the band finished, it was off to the Krewe of Choctaw booth for the best shrimp po-boys around.

Yummy! The best fried shrimp at the festival

Krewe of Choctaw working hard!

The kids had a great time checking out all of the rides and carnival-like games.

The crowds were the largest I have EVER seen on a Friday night at the festival.

With today's forecast including more sunshine, I'm sure that Gretna will be overflowing all day. If you get a chance, check out the booth with the sparkly fleur-de-lis and S&WB logo shirts - they are inexpensive and cute, cute, cute. Hope to see you there!

Ahhhh, Elaine is learning how to order her Po-Boys!!!   DRESSED!!!!   (everything on them)   :)

Lisa, I think I may be going to New Orleans in Dec. -- it's going to be a very short visit -- arriving on Sunday noonish and probably leaving on Monday afternoon -- we're trying to figure out if we can stay 2 nights and not leave until Tuesday...I'll call you when we have the details worked out.   :)

Lisa that is one festival worth going to.  I went a couple of years ago when my brother lived in Gretna.

First, it's midnight and now I'm starving.  Second, you had great seats for the concert.  Must have had some connections :)

Pippa, they are delicious!  Thanks for stopping by :)

Elaine, LOL!  You want a crawfish pie too?

Judi, call me - and check out my day 2 post - I took some video just for you :)

John, come on over today - we'll still be out there until late tonight, and I'd love to see you.

Carole, our nights are getting a little cooler, but it's still warm enough to wear shorts during the day.  I've got more pictures and video coming up!

Erik, I might know somebody.... :)
