You Could Win an Ice Cream Shop in Land Park

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

here's the scoop in land parkIf you've always wanted to run your own business in Land Park, here's a chance to land your very own ice cream and coffee shop for $150. The catch? You have to write up to a 300-word story about why you are qualified to run this business and pay your $150 entry fee.

The shop, "Here's the Scoop," is located at 3051 Freeport Boulevard, between Weller and Bidwell. Ron and Melinda Rucker have owned the ice cream store for 7 years. The Ruckers are hoping to receive enough entries to cover the cost of the contest and market value of the store. They say the store netted $85,000 in 2007.

Here's the Scoop was once a Baskin Robbins, so you know the location is suitable for an ice cream store. It sells Gunther's premium ice cream but is also frequented for its delicious smoothies and ice cream cakes.

The contest closes on November 30th and the winner will be chosen in early 2009.

To enter the contest, go to winthisbiz.com.

Now Elizabeth, if I saunter over there and plunk down my $150, and use my writing prowess and WIN this contest, and all of a sudden I am the proud owner of a new ice cream shop, you have to promise to help me find a house in Sacramento. I could hire out the shop to some workers, have that $85K income stream from my cones, and work for you as my Broker. Wow, life is sweet in Sacramento. Plus you could show me all those great restaurants you and your husband go to. For $150, what a great ROI that would be for me.

Elizabeth:  This sounds like a great idea!  Maybe I should consider relocating?  Though reality soon sets in when I realize I could not be trusted with the inventory.  ;)

Hi Sindee: I have seen some homes listed as a lottery, too; but generally they don't get enough entries.

Hi Gary: Yeah, move to Sacramento. You'd be a great addition to our wonderful city! But you'd have to work 7 days a week, 14 hours a day to run the ice cream shop. Least I'd know where to get my free, um, samples.

Hi Tom: I hope they get enough entries so some really lucky and deserving person will get the shop.

Hi Chris Ann: I could not be trusted with the inventory, either. LOL.

I cannot enter as I would eat my inventory and get the worlds biggest brain freeze.... but what a great idea to market a property.

Best,

Hi Scott: Yup, I could not manage a candy store, either. Or a bakery. OK, not even a grocery store -- nothing to do with food.
