Naples Fishing Report 10/4/08

This Saturday there was a lot of activity from dolphins! We know this is not great for fishing.... they are fun to watch but not when trying to fish... Water was clear and calm and the temperature is still warm at 82.4 degrees in the Gulf. The conditions were an occasional light breeze and overcast, gray skies... the tide was on it's way out this morning...

Besides the dolphin just about the only person catching fish was my daughter. She had a lot of activity with small fish... She hooked a spanish mackeral, nice size whiting, and a number of juvenile jacks. I saw a few other people pull in a few whiting, cats, and a snook along the pilings.

Live shrimp, frozen shrimp, and spoons were successful. One note gold spoons were more effective then silver.

Heavy rain came in later in the day..

Hi Shannon looks like it was a great day for fishing down in Naples, FL! Sounds like your daughter caught quite a few.

Hi Bill yes sometimes you catch them and sometimes you don't .... I look at it as putting in my time - before I catch the big one:-) She is a goofball and wasn't very gracious about catching so many ... I think she was almost out of line, had a broken tip, and yet wham every few minutes - it was ridiculous but fun! ( especially since it poured the rest of the afternoon) .
