A little advise for the new agents

By
Real Estate Agent with JKA Properties (Meli G Realty & Investment Group)

I went to the office last Sunday afternoon to catch up with some paperwork. As I sat in the quiet office trying to hurry up and finish another one of our agents walked in, a lady that has been in the business for 30+ years. She has the perfect "grandma" look, gray hair, petite, soft spoken, and always wears a beautiful smile. I take advantage of any oportunity I get to tap into her experience. I asked her if she ever looked back into the years she's been in the business and if she has any regrets or if she would've done anything differently. Here is her answer in a few words:

"I would not have done anything differently. It takes years of creating one relationship after another. You cannot go from 50 transactions to 200 overnight. Strong, stable businesses grow incrementally, having strong foundations of each level before they move to the one above. Business maturity is like aging: it cannot move quicker than the natural order of things. You need to crawl before you walk, and walk before you run. So it is with growing your business!"

Don't you just love the analogy! So, to all the new agents with big dreams: relax, breathe, and take time to learn and enjoy the business! The rest will follow!

Meli - Your colleague sounds like a beautiful and wise person.  You are lucky to have had crossed paths with her.

Joanna - You are right, I am lucky to have her near me! I admired my Grandmother when I was a kid and I find myself always drawn toward older and more experienced people. I can listen to them for hours. It is a great way to learn from others' experiences.

Brenda - I know, I've been so busy. I have not had a chance to get on the AR as much lately. Our soldiers returning are keeping things very busy. In the last 2 days I've received over 80 e-mails with requests for rental properties alone! Phew! It's hard to keep up with them, but I make it a point to never go to bed without answering all of them! So, I have to give up some AR time! :-)
