Gary, that was exactly what I was thinking. I have friends that are outstanding designers, master carpenters, painters, sculptors... My neighbor is a partner in an extremely talented design firm. You can view an example of their construction work in my post on Cocina Latina. We have spoken about trying to find a house to rehabilitate and my heart flipped when I found this one.

Terri, I know what you mean. I have a thing for country kitchens... Maybe because so much of my family is down South (LOL). Plantation homes are quite stately. :-)

Laura, I will be checking on it hoping to catch someone going in or out. I did speak with a few neighbors and they said once in a while people do show up and do a little work. If I ever get to peek inside there will be lots of pictures, promise. :-)

Sharon, I hope someone restores it as well. It's an over-sized lot with a lovely old home just waiting to be discovered by the right person. I love houses with character.

Robert, it certainly has atmosphere (LOL). Anyone who restored this gem would do very well on the market. I shall do another turtle run and post more of Jamaica Estates so you can see what the homes immediately surrounding it look like.

Hal, it's wonderful your friends have taken on such a major project. I'm with you on this one - I'd buy it too if I could figure out how. Elizabeth Weintraub did such a fantastic remodel series. I bet I'd have fun following in her foot steps. The pictures and video would be very interesting. Who knows what we'd possibly discover if we ever starting working in there. I keep wondering if there is a fireplace and what materials would have been used for it. :-)

Thank you, Vickie. I was just talking to a new buyer yesterday who was very sad about losing his home several years ago because one spouse became ill and they fell behind in their payments. Up until the medical bills, they had pristine credit. It is so hard to catch up when a person falls behind. I hate when people assume the reasons why something is the way it is without looking into each individual fact of the matter. When I look at this home I always find myself wondering what happened and where are the people who own this home...
