During a crumbling economy....

By
Real Estate Agent with Strough Associates

I wonder if any brokers out there have come up with any new/innovative approaches to keeping their business alive during these tough times? I am in a market that has been relatively sheltered from the woes of the past year. However, now with the NYC financial mess we are seeing a LOT of hesitation and nervousness from buyers. Those who still have the means to purchase and holding off to see if the prices continue to slide downward and also to see if the foreclosure mess will finally hit the Hamptons.

I would be interested to hear from others on how to keep your buyers moving as well as how to get your listings sold! I am hopeful that the turn around will be coming soon!

No doubt, we are seeing buyer hesitation, but must continue to market ourselves continuously, back to the basics.

Julie - In my area!  The brokers are not saying much at all.  I haven't heard any thing from my own broker due to what happening with the financial crisis.  I have watch our MLS listing go down as a big drop with listing.  The sellers are taking their listing off the market and the buyers are going to buy until they see a change in the financial crisis.  I have been working so hard with clients that they are so very scare right now.  The sellers will not list until they see some kind of hope for the buyers to buy. I hope and pray the economy will get better soon!

First, DO NO HARM

It seems that spreading doom and gloom with blog titles like many (MANY) I have seen does more to lend momentum to any problems we may or may not be having.

Certainly it does nothing to bolster CONSUMER CONFIDENCE which is a problem far greater than any economic woes our country is experiencing...

Try telling buyers that "The sky is NOT falling"...just an opinion...

The nervousness is nationwide, but I predicted it will subside soon and there will be a FLOOD of activity when this passes.  GET READY!

I have had more listings sold when the Seller actually prices it at their bottom line. It's better to refuse a low offer than never get an offer to begin with.
