I Flipped over this little Sanyo Video Camera

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Buyers' Choice Realty

The Flip has been all the rage and I was going to buy it, but I didn't like a lot of things about it.  I wanted the memory card to be replaceable, and the flip did not provide that feature.  I also wanted more options like zooming and image stabilization, which the flip did not confer.

I finally found all that I was looking for and more, in the new, adorable, little SANYO Xacti E1 camcorder.  Tiny, tiny and in a cool turquoise color (hey, don't laugh, I'm a girl and these things do matter to me!),this little wonder fits in the palm of my hand and it does the work that other bulky cameras can't even touch.  It zooms big time.  The images are sharp and clear.  It is extraordinarily easy to use.  It records everything on a standard flash disk that you can just pop right into your laptop without any cumbersome cables.  It doubles up as a normal camera for picture taking and it records my podcasts with great sound quality.  The beautiful thing about it is that it's waterproof too, which helps quite a bit, since I'm a bit of a klutz.

I used my little nano camcorder yesterday and I was so impressed with my very first videos.  Judge for yourself!  Here are some clips I took yesterday.  Remember that I've had no training on it (my better half just taught me how to turn it on and get access to the memory disk, that's all).  I figured out how to upload the videos on to YouTube (it's a no brainer - just click "upload").  Today I left my other camera at home; I think this little wonder will be my one and only from now on.

I plan on videotaping all my listings and having them posted on YouTube(I'm "MyrtleBeachGuru" on YouTube) with a link on each one of my e-mails.  I will also embed them on the websites I've created for each one of my listings.  Not too shabby...

I love my new NanoCamcorder!  The best part about it?  The cost:  right around $ 200 at Costco.  Amazing, but true!

I bought a flip for my daughter a year ago. I was amazed at how easy these things are and the video quality is better than I expected... especially for the price.

I've got to get one of these! The danger lies in having it around where someone can use it on me! I'm glad it's tine - maybe I can keep it hidden. On another note... I'd LOVE to live there! It looks like exactly what I need :)

Mirela - Those are great videos!  Do you know how many mega pixels the camera has?   :)

Jennifer, you would love it here.  Come visit!  Rent one of these homes for the winter and come write here!  I bet you could get reciprocity with your Real Estate license.

Just a thought.  The sun is ever so life enhancing.

Chuck, this is better than the flip.  You can just put it in your pocket and go.  Tiny, tiny and fun, fun...

Susan:  I know, I do too!  I love what it does even more.  Have you checked out the link I included in the blog?  It goes over the MANY features of this little "workhorse".

That might be great for my MrRoadRage.com site!  Of course the problem for me might be the fact that I probably wouldn't know to be taping someone until it is too late.  Hmmmm....I could just keep it on and tape over it again and again I guess.  Then I could post the video on UTube...gotcha!  Another road idiot caught!  I am assuming you can keep deleting and recording again and again.  Hmmm....I would probably have to make sure I didn't catch their license plate number.  That girl who spilled coffee in her lap might sue me.

Have been contemplating a small video myself, I read a while back a post on the flip and others, RCA had a fairly decent camera for a little over a 100 bucks, guess I will need to compare the two, thanks for the post

I've looked at that little flip job that they've been selling at NAR shows the past couple years but there were a couple things about it I dodn't like either. This appears to address those issues and looks to be easy with food quality. Thanks for the recommendation Mirela. If it just came in a more manly color.

But Paul, is the RCA camera turquoise??

Mirela, this is too cool. I was thinking about a Nikon SLR but move over Nikon, I think this will be my next tech purchase. I've been very frustrated looking at other people's videos and wanting to do the same thing - and with 6 megapixel photos, I may not need my still camera very often.

    Thanks for another fantastic post!

Sharon:  This is the single most fulfilling purchase I've made this year.  This and the MacBook Air, that is.  Together these two offer me the utmost in technology and mobility.  Office, what office?

Throw away your other camera.  This is the only thing you'll need.  It goes with me everywhere.  I'm recording my podcasts on it too.  Can't endorse it enough!  Costco has a good deal on it.

Sharon:  Good point about the color!

Gene:  Turquoise is manly enough.  Come on, Gene, you have enough manliness in you to support a pink shirt, let alone a turquoise camera, and you know it!

Paul:  I have not seen those.  I'm all for saving money, but I want quality first AND the features I need.

Gregory:  I have no idea how much those chips are.  I buy mine at Costco and they must not be too expensive, otherwise I'd know how much they cost....

Kristin:  I'd prefer pink, but they don't even make a MacBook Aire pink cover, let alone a pink camcorder.  Darn!  Haven't seen it in purple either. I hope you like turquoise!

    Mirela,

Beautiful? and quaint? beach homes?!  You've got too much exposure to the salt air.  Cool camera but I suggest you have a script available for the recording.  Too many "okkaayyysss" and other trite expressions.  I know you can do much better.

Thanks Bill! Those are my first shots. I was not taping for public endorsement and I was fudging it every step of the way. Improvising, as you call it. I was playing with my new toy and I was so-o-o excited to be doing it. I was like a little kid in a candy store. I also wanted to narrate the images of the area for the person who wants the information and doesn't care whether it's well scripted or not. I like the grainy feel of amateur video! Although I'm sure I'll be a lot more eloquent on future, better organized tapings, I'm quite proud that I was able to produce these clips AND post them on YouTube. It's a start and it will be exciting to map my progress. Just give me a little time and you'll be amazed by my progress! My mother would say the same thing; you beat her to the punch (she probably hasn't seen these yet)!

Mirela:  I agree about quality features and results, I am not that familiar with either camera, but will compare the both.  Thanks for the heads up on the sanyo.

Mirela  -- these are great -- i have been trying to switch over all my listings from visual tours to these videos -- videos on the blog help with indexing  -- i am sure you knew that - that is why you are doing it :)--  if found it best to have a cheat sheet or even write down a script -- i still get a lot of the um's and oh's -- but i have had great feed back from customers -- try vimeo.com it is free to post your vids and index's with Google and AOL very well!  Good work -- JE
