ARE YOU SITTING ON EXTRA CASH AT HOME?

Here are some interesting idea's on how to make extra money with the real estate you currently own. It may keep you from having to get that second job. Here in the Northern Virginia area we have so many opportunities to make some extra cash. Do you have an extra room in your home that is just gathering dust? If so, you may be sitting on some extra cash.

Here are some interesting idea's.

Being so close to DC, several military bases and two very large airports, actually can be a plus in a down market. Have you ever given any thought to renting out the guest room? How about to airline personnel who travel from Hub to Hub. They are always in need a clean nice place to stay.Sometime overnight, sometimes for a layover, and then other times, some are willing to rent a room monthly just to have a second place to call home while in the DC Area. Stage a room like a nice hotel room, give them a private bath and price it below the hotels in your area.

• Place an add on Craigslist for a Free Room For Rent Ad (Weekly or Monthly)
• Offer up a Crash Pad for Pilots?
• Rent out your Garage! Really take a look at this site
• Rent your Furnished House out as a Corporate Rental
• The FBI Training facility in Quantico have students who arrive for 9 months. They need rooms as well. Call the housing office at Quantico to find out how to let them know you have a room available.
• For those of you on acreage. How about housing someone boat for them (storage fee's ad up) 
• Are you a Dog Lover. Offer to take care of a pet or two for others.

Here's another idea. If you have an extra room and your house is wireless, rent out a Home Office Space.So many people want to work from home in the neighborhood, however may not be able to work with the family underfoot. If you have a quiet house, and a  room where someone could work, think outside the box-Rent it out as a Home Office!

• Make sure you have rules, create a contract
• Make sure you have hours of business 9-4 for example
• Check with your insurance carrier as well..do some research-you find you have a gold mine right under your roof and you would be helping someone else save on gas prices!
• Consult your local HOA bi-laws and county ordinances
