With all the talk on the news about the massive bailout of Wall Street, I decided to interview David Hayes(CEO & president of Security Bank in Dyersburg,Tennessee).

David is (IMO) one of the sharpest financial guys you will ever meet. Perhaps he needs to go to Washington and straighten out this mess!

I gave David a list of questions that the people of Dyersburg,Tennessee would ask concerning the local and national banking systems.

First of all Security Bank is a very strong and stable bank. We have
money to loan and have not been directly affected by the national
financial problems. You can check your banks rating here: www.bankrate.com

Our customers and prospects should NOT be concerned because if they want to discuss
anything I am just a short phone call or visit away.

The Washington/Wall Street mess has caused all of us to be concerned and
have sleepless nights not knowing what the future of our country will
bring. As I type this I just received word that the "Bailout Bill" had
passed and will be signed by the President today. What does that mean-as
much as I hate to see the government involved in such a plan it was the
only choice we had. We did not get into this type of problem overnight
and will not get out overnight. America has some of the brightest mind
in the word but we should have seen this coming. We need to be careful
with the continued concentration of financial resources into the hand of
a few institutions.

Let's just pray that the plan works and allows the larger companies in
the world to have access to credit just like those on Main Street have
access.

Mike - THanks for the information. My mortgage guys here in Nashville all say the same thing. People with credit can still borrow money, and for the most part business is as usual. I don't think this thing will have any impact on the regional or local banks except to make them stronger.

It seems to me that the smaller more conservative banks will survive.  Its always interesting to hear how Presidents of banks respond to these sort of questions. Thanks for the post.
