14 Comments on Route 66 Construction Collapse
Chris Ann...
You're right, it is ver scary looking. I'm glad that no one was hurt. Good photo.
Seems there are a lot of things collapsing lately. We had a temporary covered walkway collapse a couple of weeks ago, injuring about 20 people. There have been several construction cranes that collapsed, two in New York within days of each other. Not to mention the financial collapse.
Chris Ann, don't like seeing the beams come down. Not good if anyone was nearby.
When I first saw the headline, I thought, "how did I miss this?" LOL GREAT photo.
Richard: I kept driving around, figuring they must have already cleaned it up...then I saw it. Snapped the photo through my windsheild, edited it when I got home.
Jim: That bridge collapse in Minnesota was the one that came to my mind right away when I first heard of this. Thank God it ended up that the largest problem was delays for the afternoon commute.
Gary: It is a frightening sight to see the support beams fall. Don't know the full story yet, but this was a stretch of Interstate 66 that was going to be demolished. Perhaps this was demolition that just got ahead of itself.
Susan: It was a very big deal out here. And it is totally screwing up the afternoon rush hour.
Chris Ann,
Fortunately it sounded worse than it was, but you still got a good pic of it. Years from now you can show the picture and talk about the "close call" you had. :)

Steve: It's really weird. This blog has made me feel like a photo journalist. As soon as I heard about this event, I grabbed the camera and got in the car.
Chris Ann: As I remember... Rt 29 carried quite a bit of traffic in that area. that is going to be one pretty big mess until they get it taken care of.
One habit that has become a part of my everyday routine is always, always having my good ol' handy Canon Rebel XTi camera with me. You just never know what you might want to capture for a blog post.
Karen Anne: Amazingly it was cleared the next day. As for the camera, I too carry mine all the time now.
Chris Ann: I am sure that the main reason this mess was cleared up so quickly... was that they knew that they had to get the heck out of the way... before you got back on the road the next morning. LOL. They just simply knew better than to mess with you. :)
Karen Anne: Thank God I don't have to face a morning commute anymore. If I go to the office, it's mid-afternoon and a ten minute residential road drive.
