It's nice to know that most Charlotteans aren't actually from here. It makes for great diversity in the city and many opportunities to meet new people.
The mild weather coupled with the chance to get to see all four season (yes, we have a beautiful Fall) is amazing.
One of the things that most struck me when I visited Charlotte for the first time was the landscape. There are so many beautifully maintained properties, residential and commercial and the variety of plants that grow here are trully spectacular!
There are just so many fun things to do in and around Charlotte, it will amaze you! There are 3 Lakes - Wylie, Mountain Island and Norman, many fine restaurants, tons of festivals and special events such as Taste of Charlotte, Matthews Alive, Speed Street, the Wachovia Golf Championship, Blews, Brews & BBQ, and the Criterium (Bike Race) just to name a few, Carrowinds amusement park, great shopping, NASCAR, Professional Football (Go Panthers!), NBA Basketball (Go Bobcats), Hockey (Go Checkers), Baseball (Go Knights), theater, unbelievable YMCA's that almost resemble country clubs, golf courses galore, an amazing botanical garden at Daniel Stowe and even a Ritz Carlton. One is never at a loss for things to do in Charlotte!
I may be partial because I live here, but I'll let the city speak for itself...here are some items of special interest: Entrepenuer Magazine named us one of the Best Places for Entrepenuers due to our "dream it, do it" attitude; Prevention Magazine named us one of the Top 20 Walking Cities in the US because the county has 175 parks and a year round temperate climate; the Charlotte chapter of Habitat for Humanity has built the second largest number of houses than any other Habitat orgaization in the country. Also, did you know that we are the nation's second largest financial district behind Wall Street?
There are so many other glorious things I can say about our beautiful city, but perhaps one should check it out first hand!
Deanna, Welcome to Active Rain and congratulations on your first blog post. Thanks for sharing your opinion on Charlotte. Good luck and happy blogging.
