Whew! Another festival has come to a close and it had to be the biggest one yet if the sales at the Krewe of Choctaw booth were any indication.
Thankfully, we had more volunteers this year to help out, so I was able to wander a little bit more and eat a whole bunch more...I'm holding the city of Gretna responsible for the 5 pounds that I'm sure I gained in the last three days.
Here are some of the sights and sounds of the closing day:
The crowds were unbelievable and the kids were thrilled with all of the rides and games.
Shrimp and crab alfredo from Barreca's in the Italian Village - YUM!
Amanda Shaw and the Cute Guys performed at the Riverfront Stage with the Crescent City Connection in the background.
Bonerama makes music with trombones that you have to hear to believe. I heard them for the first time when they played at the wedding reception of some friends and just loved it. Check out the video below for a sample...
At the end of the night, Montgomery Gentry closed out the festival. As I waited for the show to start, I couldn't believe how many people were packed into the main stage area and lined up along the levee to watch.
Even though my feet hurt, my legs are tired and I don't want to eat another shrimp for a long time, it was a well spent weekend. Same time, same place next year!
Cynthia, our carnival club participates as a vendor at this festival, so we are there every year and I love it! It's grown incredibly in the last few years, with more stages being added each year to accommodate the wonderful musicians, both local and national. Who wouldn't love it? :)
Lisa, What fabulous views---I love the one shot from above on the CROWD below---and the beach scene. Looks like I may need to come there for a festival---you never know :) Thanks for sharing those great shots and the video!
Carole, thank you! I'd love to see you at one of our festivals...there's always Jazz Fest in April!
Shannon, why do you think my photo only shows me from the neck up? LOL!
Laura, this fest is just growing by leaps and bounds every year - I heard many people saying it was their first time and they couldn't believe they hadn't been before.
Donna, don't get me wrong - I love shrimp! But, after 3 days of it, I've had enough to last for awhile. Come on down and I'll have hubby whip some up for you :)
Pamela, please post about yours too! I love festivals and enjoy seeing how other parts of the country celebrate.
Elizabeth, the music is incredible, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by for a listen :)
Jeremy, same time next year - come on down and bring that cutie pie daughter too!
Georgina, we do have fun! Sadly, I've sworn off shrimp for a few days after the fest - I ate so many I was beginning to think someone would boil me and peel me :)
