My
morning started off as an interesting one down at Seminole County
Down Payment Assistance office.
Today
was the first day for people to
turn in their Seminole County SHIP applications. It has
been a long
process for some and the anticipation today was high. From talking with
others in line some people started camping outside the county's door
last night to be first in line and have the first opportunity to turn
in their applications. These highly awaited funds are on a first come
first serve basis.
Some people
will receive as much as $80,000 in free
government money.
By 6:00 am the line wrapped around the building and for those people
it
was a 3 hour wait to turn in your application. Many people
were turned
away because of incomplete files. Information missing like pay stubs,
affidavites, prequalification letters. They had to return later once
they had the missing items. However I am proud to say not a single
client of mine was turned away with 3 people now being told wow that's
the best application I have seen. Once they got in, they were out
within minutes.
I went to the county today to turn in an application for a client who
was not able to go himself.
So a courtesy to him I
waited in line and
turned it in for him. I would hate to see someone not
have the
opportunity to get into a home because they are hard at work and cant
get a vacation day. So today ends the first day in this process for
many. With the ship office seeing 200+ people by noon. Now the waiting
game starts
Everyone who applied today will not fully know if they are going to
receive funds from SHIP until
30-45
days from now when they receive
their award letters. I know that each grouping of funds is
very limited
to the number of families that will be helped. Fingers are crossed for
my clients, hopefully by the end of the year they will all be home
owners.

"Always work with a
Realtor when selling a home. Would you hire a
Realtor who has never sold a house before, knows nothing about real
estate law, contract negotiation, or sales? Of course not –
but that describes you. Don’t hire yourself – hire
a real estate sales professional." ~ Ric Edelman
How great of you to assist your client that way. Taking some of the stress and frustration away from him will create a long lasting impression. Good for you.
