Personal property can help a house sell faster.

The Seller of this home is obviously a well-heeled, astute, serious seller. I am in a quandry on what to do if my buyer wants this egg-carton collection. How do I come up with a value for this collection that does not insult the Seller and have him reject our offer, and still be fair for my client? What is the current market value of this collection? I have not seen anything as unique as this on Antiques Road Show and a Google search of "egg-carton appraisers" turned up nothing. I hope this home does not sell before I get this figured out!

Maybe they are having am assive egg hunt for Easter next year! lol Weird thing to collect.

Ha Ha you had me going there for a minute, Wayne! My answer would be to price the collection appropriately, maybe tell the seller something like "Vintage egg carton collection -- reduces the selling price by $2,000" and then the seller may see its true value!

NOT...funny post. Creative thinking, it's what we realtors do when we have no work, huh? Economy is the pitts, but it's on the way back, really it is.

all I gotta say, is "only in Oregon" haha! I'm just teasin, I love it here! That is certainly a unique situation, I'd like to see what you result in doing!

Did the homeowner give you a reason for saving these? There just has to be reason...

Egg carton collection? How can there be more than one person on earth who is into egg cartons? You could do an all call to your friends on Active Rain, and we can each send you one! I have a really old one in my fridge right this minute!

Perhaps this collection needs to be moved to safe keeping so the buyer can see the space and not be wondering what in the heck this stack of egg cartons is doing here! We see the most amazing things don't we -- too funny!

There must be an egg carton appraiser listed in the Portland metro area phone book. Maybe one of the RE appaisers can give it a shot.

I thought you were being serious at first, you really had me going there for a while. It's amazing what people collect and sometimes they forget why they started collecting in the first place. Any kind of collection, as far as I'm concerned, takes away value from a home when trying to sell it.

OMG, don't you know the value of empty egg cartons. They are great for sorting buttons, shipping small items thru the mail, packing material for larger items.

Those should be placed on CraigsList immediately for a good return on investment.
