We All Share In The Death Of Every Human Being

Angel"We all share in the death of every human being"
is my favorite quote from the hit TV Series Bones.

I think those are very true words.
Everyone feels the loss of a human life whether we
know the person or not.  We are all connected in the great scheme of things.

I had originally intended on using those words for another post, but things are not as usual today.  The day started out as any other, but took a drastic turn this morning.  Our office received a call...one of our agents passed away over the weekend from an apparent heart attack...no official cause of death as of yet.

Charlotte Jenkins, 65, died while asleep sometime Saturday night.

I did not know Charlotte all that well, but I have on many occasions helped her around the office with pictures and computer issues.  Charlotte was struggling to take quality photos and had troubles entering her pics in our local MLS.  I helped her whenever she needed help.

One day when I was helping her I noticed she had some photos of her beautiful granddaughter on her laptop.  She was really wanting a picture of her granddaughter on the desktop so I did that for her.  I also made the picture her screen saver which she liked.

Last Friday Charlotte came into my office and stood there.  I had no idea what she wanted...I was so buried in work I hardly looked up until I  realized she wanted me to see something.  Charlotte had put on eyelashes...I was so busy I didn't notice which made all of the girls there laugh.

On Saturday evening I spoke with Charlotte about a mutual listing we have together.  I was supposed to bring her the key this morning.  I am not sure why, but that is what I was thinking all day.

The office was a somber place to be today as we all reflected on Charlotte and how full of life she was.  I would never have figured her for 65 she was so active.  Charlotte was a substitute teacher, real estate agent, mother, grandmother, partner, friend, student and more.

Charlotte was awaiting the birth of her grandson any day and had plans to spend Christmas visiting the new edition.  I, and everyone else in my office,  was in shock all day...I just cannot understand how I can talk to someone Saturday night and everything is fine and then that happens.

We all share in the death of every human being

We will miss Charlotte's love of life around the office

Charlotte Jenkins

Liz - I know how you feel...I have been asking myself that all day.  I always thought she looked 50 too.  I actually didn't believe her when she told me her age.

Robert - Yes, it is short...today really drove that home for me.  Charlotte was always so spunky and loved living.  She seemed like she was so healthy.  I'm in shock.

C Tann-Starr - Thank you...it helps knowing I have friends that understand how I feel.

Chastity:  I am sorry for your loss in the passing of your friend.  I believe that all of us are linked in some spiritual/psychological/philosophical way... and when any person passes away... somehow we are all affected... and we are all "lessened."  Gentle huggs to you.
