Germs & Things

I have a client who has decided for obvious reasons to get out of the rental business.  He is hoping to "dump" some of his lower end properties in the hopes of purchasing some better properties at a reduced price.  I was in one of his properties today which overall was in fairly good shape but needs some cleaning, new carpet and some painting.

As I was taking measurements and pictures in this somewhat run down, smelly house, it suddenly dawned on me that we are constantly being exposed to nasty germs and things.  How many strange houses do you go in and out of every day?  How many people in those houses have cold, the flu, etc.

I'm not afraid of germs nor do I worry about them but I also don't go seeking them out.  I guess I must be building up a phenomenal immune system.

My mother also taught me a long time ago not to wear my shoes in the house.  Can you image in germs you would bring into your own home after walking through who knows what in someone elses house?

I am thinking of keep some disinfectant in my car just in case I get the feeling that the germs are taking over.  It couldn't hurt because sometimes my car gets a little smelly.    Many of you have probably thought about this a long time ago but it just came to me.  I figure in this market, germs are the least of my worries.

Take care.

When I was the one who used to go through all of the vacant bank owned houses here in Detroit, I had some hand sanitizer with me just to clean off my hands because on some days it's going through houses, picking something up to eat, then looking through more houses.  Just keeping my hands clean was the big part for me.  Now we have just hired a property scout that looks at all of our properties.

Yucky.  I keep hand sanitizer in the car - one of the local title companies provides it.  I have a team member here who has a wearable air ionizer to sanitize the air before she breathes it in.  It goes around her neck.

Thanks for the blog Cindy!!!  I am a little bit of a clean freak when it comes to this stuff.  I mean really, some people are simply PIGS.  The number of people I see leave a restroom without washing their hands is unbelievable!!!!!!!  Just think of all the things they touch before you do.  Door knobs, pens, pencils, copy machines, fax machines, etc.
