In today's economic turmoil and heated political scene, we rarely hear news that is uplifting or encouraging.  This morning - today - is not any different.  I wanted to share with you a glimmer of hope which I found on the MSNBC website today.

While researching the emergency rate cut enacted by the fed this morning, I stumbled across this article claiming, "Breaking News" , but oddly I have not seen anything about it on the big three networks.  So...are you ready for the good news...the hope?

Existing Home Sold

August's Existing Home Sales had a very solid increase in the month of August.  While the expectation was for another decline of 1.8%, the buyers started buying.  Not only were the economists wrong in their expectation of a decrease, they were blown out of the water with an increase of 7.4%.  The article, as brief as it is, goes on to tell you that the reading is the highest since June of 2007 and 8.8% higher than one year before.

While I am not espousing that the hard times are over, I do think that we need to spread the news.  I believe that the media is largely responsible for the mess we are in now.  Sure, government has played it's roll in the demise.  But the media are the ones who fuel the fear of the masses.  If we can get out and encourage buyers, sellers, and borrowers that now is a great time to buy, we can help to stimulate the economy.  We can make ourselves part of the media.  We have voices too.  And Active Rain has established itself as a major influence in the world of Real Estate both nationally and locally.

Go spread the good news.  The hope.  As I do what I can to join the fight, I will be watching, reading, and writing (finally).

Hi Jason ~ Thank you for stopping by.  I know...I miss so many people, but I have been one of the fortunate.  I have increased my volume over last year and there during the summer with the kids home, it is hard to do.  Hopefully I will be around more.  You know me, I am always trying to find the hope.  So finding this article was a good thing.  :)  See you soon!

Sarah, yes that is good news and we can all use good news...you are right media has fueled the fire for a long time now and I'm glad to see the American public not listening and continuing to hit the payment to purchase a home. We have our work cut out for us battling the media propaganda but it's worth it and we must do what we can to ease the nerves of future home buyers and investors.

Hi Sarah,

this is the first time I've ever read one of your blogs and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am also amazed at the fact that the news seems so biased and cynical. I haven’t seen any reports on the Hope for Homeowners plan that was launched October 1st and shows a lot of promise for reenergizing the real estate market. I look forward to reading your blogs in the future.

Hello Sarah,

This is wonderful news. It might be due to foreclosures and investors grabbing well priced property. I would be interested in that data. Re-blogging!

Eleanor ~  Thanks.  It is good to be back.  While this may shock you, little opinionated me has lots on my mind to share.  :)

Miami ~ Thank you for your kind words and for stopping by.  I will look forward to seeing you again!

Lori ~ If in fact you are right, as I suspect you are in large part, bring them on.  The sooner we can get this older inventory of off the books, the better things will get, I think.  :-)  Good to have you stop by and say "hello".

There is ALWAYS hope...but this is great news! You and I know that the national media thrives on the bad stuff. Let's show them how it's done! Welcome back and GBU!

Yahoo!  I have a feeling we won't see this kind of thing reported widely by the media until AFTER the election - I have a theory.

Elizabeth ~  You are precisely right.  I feel like the media (albeit unintentionally) is stealing the hopes of Americans.  My hope comes from Someone else though.  :-)

KMG ~ Likewise, my friend.  Likewise.  They want to have a savior...

It is so easy to focus only on the negative. I think we are fighting the battle well and have full confidence that in the end, whenever that may occur, we will prevail mightily.
