TO WHAT EXTENT SCAM ARTISTS GO TO....

By
Real Estate Agent with Johnson Real Estate, Inc. RES.0761759

Is it just me, or are other ActiveRain members getting crap mail, that only bogs down their inbox? Normally I just delete this stuff (yes, I'm irritated by this).  But I thought for once, it might be a good idea for everyone to read to what extent scam artists go to.  How can anyone writing this believe that someone would respond.  It sickens me to death, that they can't find something else better to do.

By no means do any of you have to read the whole thing.. but I thought you would like to get a good laugh at the absurdness of it all.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO PUT AN END TO RECEIVING THESE???

Dearest One,
I felt greatly impressed after going through your profile, I confirmed that you will be an honest person to help me invest my inherited money into your company. I have taken my time to pray before I tell you about this. I want you to understand that my contact with you is not by accident. It is true that we have not known each other for the first time but just getting to know one another which I strongly believe that it will take us to great relationship financially and otherwise. Before I continue with my discussion with you, let me introduce myself in details. Since I am still a little girl and don't know much about this transaction, I am counting on your ability to assist me, all I need from you is your honesty and assure me that you will help me to get into school once I join you.
I am Miss Jillian Akole, 18 year old the first and only daughter of late Mr & Mrs.Akole. My late father was one of the agriculture producers in my country before the current opposition party to the present Government of COTE D`IVOIRE killed him. My father and mother including my younger brother was murdered by the unknown REBELS during the time they attack our house by shooting and looting, even this is one of the things that contributed to the present political crisis in our country today after they killed some other military leaders. It pains my heart to tell this story but I must to save myself from suffering and sorrow.
God so kind I was not at home when the incident occurred, the plans of the REBELS is to kill every members of our family so that no one will rise up to revenge as time goes on. I am in our country without any one knowing it so that the unknown REBELS will not get to me and kill me like they killed all the members of our family. Why I am still staying back in our country is to move the total sum of US$8.5 million which, my late father deposited in the custody of a leading Bank here in Abidjan, he deposited the fund in my name as the next of kin before his untimely death.
Before the death of my father, he gave me the covering documents of the fund deposits in the bank, as I am his first daughter and he so much loved me with trust that was why he handed this document to me for safe keeping. Currently the amount in the bank which I am having the documents is $8.5m. Right now I will like you to assist me receive the money from the bank as my late father's business partner. I have already talk with one of the bank director's that I want to claim the money which my late father deposited under their custody, but he told me that I'm too young to handle such money. The bank director told me to look for any of my late father's business partner or friend to help claim the money from their office. That is the reason I'm contacting you to assist me receive the money into your bank account, so that you will assist me leave this country and to invest the money into any good business investment in your country, also, you will help me to join you in your country for me to restart my education there. Since I am no longer safe as far as this country is concern at the moment, I want to move the money before leaving the country because this money is my last hope and the only future I have now.
I don't know how we will go about these, but I hope hearing from you before I can know which decision to make next. I will like you to stand as my late father's business partner and my guardian, as I will officially introduce you as my late father's business partner or friend to the bank so that they will release the money to you before I come to your country. Like I said, all I need from you is your kindness in all we do, I will be willing to trust all this into your care provided you promise to take good care of the money as soon as the bank transferred it to your bank account, because I don't have anyone to run to here.
Before I even pick you to assist me, I have prayed and slept over it asking the Almighty God to provide for me a Godly minded person that will assist me in this project. I will give you details of the bank if you are interested to help me receive the money in your account.
 Thanks and God bless you.
Miss Jillian Akole.

I have received similar emails.  I think they are sent from out of the country.  Some email systems allow you to block their email address.  You can try looking around your email account for "block unwanted mail"

I've read scams like this all the time; believe it or not someone must be answering these scams.  It's a shame what they will do.

HI Valerie....I agree this gets very annoying!  My husband I get bombarded with these weekly!  Somtimes it is a king from another country looking to give us a million dollars.  Often I read the e-mails just to get a good laugh at the spelling and grammatical errors.  I sure hate the thought of these bozos targeting people that actually do respond.

Valerie, OK, OK, I got the same e-mail the other day.  So are you trying to tell me that I am not going to get part of that 8.5 million dollars????  I don't know she sounds real honest to me.  Just to show you how wrong you are, when I get my check I will even take you out to lunch just to show it to you :) :) :)

Marcela.. There should be a way to block these people. Or better still, send it back to them, so they can see what it is like.

Pat.. I realize there are people that probably answer these and those are the people I think we need to protect from this.  I think we should all hit *return to sender* and see what happens.

Janelle.. I agree these are fun to read, but they also annoy me.  I get a few of these a day.  The one I liked the best was when a woman wanted to send *me* personally money.. though she didn't know my name.  Later in the letter she stated she needed to get her mom out of the country, but had no money to do so, and wanted my help".  LOL.  Amazing what people write.

George.. If you don't mind, I won't be holding my breathe on the lunch date.  LOL.  Oh, that reminds me, I need to confirm the luncheon on the 11th.. I just need to find a sitter.  It is Veteran's Day and there is no school.

Sandra.. Isn't it sad that people actually respond to these?  It is those people we need to help and there should be a way to block these emails.

Zzz..

Hi guys, My advice, you should not respond to any emails like that - ever, that makes them double sure that your e-mail adress exists and you'll be soon receiving more and more simmilar emails... You should just ignore it, and try to not give your e-mail address on any websites, or you could try a bounceback software, which sends to sender Mailed-Deamon like message...

Some people do respond to these to be sure. There are many good, trusting people, especially in this country. Many of these scams come from Nigeria. In fact, these are often referred to as Nigerian money scams.  Too bad some people feel they have to take advantage of others to make a living.

Brian.. Between Nigeria, and Great Britain.. one could have a good laugh about these if they realize they are ALL scams.  The misspelt words.. the millions of dollars they have and have no one to give it to but the person reading the email.

I just wish there was a way to block these straight across the board.  It is a complete waste.. all the way around.

Thank you for your comment.
