A couple of days ago, while responding to a comment on one of my posts here, I noticed I was closing in on 333,000 points. In general, I don't pay much attention to points anymore. But when I say the numeral alliteration, I couldn't resist.

My wife, Rocky, founder of Mothers Fighting For Others, loves the number 3. Anyone who knows her well knows this. Our six kids (3x2) know this. So, I decided to try and make my point total hit 333,333, if only for a brief moment.

Rocky, this is for you. :)

333333

Do you have any idea how hard this was? :)

Wow! I have been on AR 3 months, have 30,300 points and only have to do it 11 more times or 33 months to reach 333,333!  I can see why you don't pay much attention to the points after a while. :)

I don't know how you managed it, Jaff!  I wouldn't know how to begin to make my points land on a specific number. It does remind me of when, years ago, I drove a vehicle that was about to turn 100,000 on the odometer.  I was on a vacation, driving on the highway, and had to figure out how to pull over at just the right time so I could stop at 100,000 and take a photo of the odometer.  I'm lucky I didn't have an accident, but at the time, it seemed like an opportunity I couldn't resist.  I don't know what ever happened to that photo. Oh well.

Jeff - congratulations are in order because I do know hard it is. I tried to sit at just under 100,000 for a short time so two of us could cross over at the same time, impossible as the points seen are behind that points actually earned. we crossed closs but not at the same time.

I'm a numbers twit as well.  Pulled over many a time to capture a significant number on the ODO.

Congrats on the 333,333 and to compound your calculations, all you needed was to have some referral start get a whole bunch of points at the same time  (AR pays the referrer 10% of points earned by the new member.

Then again, if something like that happened you can alsways ask Bob to penalize you for naughty behavior.

: )

428,942 Points 90 Featured Posts Outside Blog

Mike... would I get to engage in the naughty behavior first? That woudl be a real bonus. :)

5:14pm • #26
218,223 Points 51 Featured Posts Outside Blog

Oh yeah!  Of course.

  • Go ahead and be as naughty as the points you think you need to lose.
  • Then come clean to Bob confessing your naughtyness.
  • Bob will act like he knows all about it. (he likes that part even though he has no idea what your talking about)
  • Your Point total will be perfect.

It's kind of like reverse gaming in AR ;)

Just the other day I was complaining to Bob about my lack of features.  He said he would fix it or fix me.  To tell you the truth, I couldn't understand what he was saying.

You can see, I now have plenty of features!  I have more features than anyone.  I must be #1 for features.  How cool is that?

Jeff - at this point (still far away from 333,333) I can't even figure out how some of the points keep racking up, let alone trying to "fix" on a number! What if you got a comment or two somewhere in between and it threw off the whole thing??? This was a great, sweet (ok, romantic too) thing to do for your wife. ~Rita

I really hate to post this comment, because it's number 34...  I grew up in a numbers loving family, but no one liked 3's!  My dad loves 2's - as in 22, his lucky number.  I love 8's - the great infinity number (and I love even numbers too).  My husband is a fan of prime numbers.

Jeff, all of your posts are interesting and informative - looking forward to 383,383!

Jeff, Here is a trick I learned as a kid.  Enter 12345679 (no 8) in a calculator, then multiply by a number that is divisible by 9, and see what you get.  For your wife, do 12345679 X 27 and you will get an answer she will like, since she likes the number 3.  Try it!

Susan... this is for you. A video. http://www.vimeo.com/1924838

And... believe it or not, the perfect zoom size for this video was 333%. You can't make this stuff up. See the upper right side of image below.

You're welcome, Jeff.  Actually though, the multiplier to use is 9, rather than 3, so if you use 9 you'll have all 1s, 18 will get you all 2s, 54 will get you all 6s, etc.

Congrats on the 333,333
