I love it when communities use "old" buildings for a new purpose. This little spot is on my "to visit" list. :)

OK. The statue has me curious. Who is he and what's he pointing at? Are you taking submissions?

My guess: Samuel Swann and he's pointing at Uncle Sammy's Crawdad Cafe.

Well...that is really nice. You are right...it is a precious downtown. I have not been in a long time, but I love when I've passed through. GBU, Cynthia!

Cynthia,  Small waterfront towns are unlike anything I knew growing up in Albuquerque, but I've come to love them ever since Arthur brought me east.  His boyhood home was on the waterfront - he says the only thing wrong with NM is that it's "all beach and no icean"  Karen

Hi Jo,
So do I!  Restoring old buildings is a wonderful way to save history and our environment.  Thanks.

Greg,
I feel your pain, leaving the south and all its wonderful weather, people and traditions is painful, I know I did it for a short while.  Thank you for visiting and commenting.

Carole,
It is a wonderful resource, previously visitor picked up brochures, etc. at various businesses but now there is an official visitors' center (and the restrooms are important too!).

Vickie,
It is a charming little town, isn't it?  Yes, go by the visitor center next time you are there.

Chuck,
Oh shoot, now you are quizzing me and I should know.  Now I have to do a little research.  I'm sure I have known but for the life of me, I can't recall at the moment.  I'll get back to you.

Hello Jennifer,
Thank you and I agree.  This is something Swansboro has needed for some time, I'm so happy it has finally happened.

Elizabeth,
You should plan on passing through again in the near future.  :-)

Hello Karen,
So you are now a beach girl, right?

Katie,
Swansboro is a quaint town and Yannis is a great place to have breakfast or get a burger and shake.
