Grab Rover and throw on his leash, it's time for Fullerton's Pooch Walk 2008 !!

It will be like a walk in the park - literally!!         

Fullerton's furry, four-legged residents of the canine variety and their human counterparts are invited to participate in the city's first "Pooch Walk" in support of Fullerton Pooch Park.          

The event will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Laguna Lake Park, 3120 Lakeview Drive, and will feature a short trail route for small dogs, and a longer trail for larger dogs.           

All dogs are welcome provided they are on a leash and are comfortable being around other dogs and children.  

              

Human participants must be at least 18 years old and may handle no more than two dogs during the walk.          

Registration is required for the event, and the first 100 persons to register will receive a commemorative "Pooch Walk 2008" wristband.          

Registration may be obtained by coming to the Parks and Recreation Department at Fullerton City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave., or by calling the department at (714) 738-6575.           

Registration may also be accomplished at Laguna Lake Park the day of the event.          

A $10 fee will be charged per individual participants and will include one souvenir water bottle, while couples or families will be charged $15 and will receive two water bottles.          

All proceeds from the event will go toward the operation, maintenance and improvement of Fullerton Pooch Park, located adjacent to Hunt Branch Library, 201 S. Basque Ave., in West Fullerton.

The park is open on a trial basis to determine its acceptability to park neighbors and to patrons of the Hunt Branch Library.
