Clearwing Butterfly

Talk about transparency!  It's all right out there for everyone to see.

Most people have never seen one of these amazing beauties - only about 2" long.

This photo was taken at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Every year in March and April they have thousands of butterflies hatch.  They fly around, sometimes landing on people, or on the many blooming orchids and tropical plants in the giant atrium greenhouse - complete with waterfall.

Great butterfly but an even greater photograph! I have been practicing on insects on the macro functions of my camera .

Lynn- That photo is beautiful! If you enjoy butterflies, there is a butterfly house on Put-In-Bay in Lake Erie. The house is full of thousands of butterflies and you can walk through while they fly around and even land on you. I highly recomend it!!

I love it! I am so interested in photography. If I could afford to buy a professional camera, I'd be in hog heaven! At least I can enjoy looking at everyone else's photos =)

Cat - Yes, even bugs can be beautiful!

Hi Bob -thanks for stopping by :)

Trey - this was taken with a Kodak digital with the close-up lens

Kaira - Sounds similar to Meijer Gardens - I'll have to get down that way and check it out.

Lisa - not a professional camera.  I won it at one of our annual meetings, and another a month later at our state convention a couple years ago.  I went out and bought a lottery ticket then, but it didn't help. :)

What an incredible picture.  Don't you wish there was that much transparency on Wall Street?

How exciting!  I just had my first SLR class.  I would love to get to the point where I can take wonderful photos like the one you shoot above.  Very impressive.

WOW! That does it--I am headed to Grand Rapids first chance I get. It helps that my best friend lives in Farmington, so she'll go with me to the gardens!

Cheers,

Robin
