Incredible history. I was out by the Battlefields this morning in Chancellorsville, and Wilderness in Spotsylvania. It is very sobering to see and walk on such 'hallowed ground!'
Karen-
Manassas is one of my most photographed battlefields in NOVA, as my Dad lives only a few minutes from the Battlefield. The Stone Bridge is one of my favorite photo spots. Thanks for the great post!
Jim, Most people associate the Civil War with Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. As you and I both know Virginia was one of the main battleground states. It is very sobering, Karen
Bryant, Fall is our favorite time to visit Manassas. As soon as the leaves turn we'll be out there with our camera - the difference is we don't have your ability, Karen
I feel blessed whenever I visit one of our battlefield. Somany laid down their lives for this great country. It is truly hallowed ground.
Jim, I agree - we also love to visit Quantico National Cemetery. It wasn't a battlefield, but it is now home to a lot of heroes, Karen
One of my conventions when naming battles is to follow the naming tradition of the victor. Thus, there were two Battles of Bull Run and but one Battle of Gettysburg.
Will That is a very interesting thesis - thank you for commenting, Karen
