Open Windows Save Money

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Norris & Norris Properties, LLC.

Now that the weather is beginning to cool down and the Economy is starting to heat up it's time to save money where ever we can.

Open windows whenever possible and take advantage of the available outdoor air. Though there are always security and safety concerns that determine how open you can keep windows, especially at night, taking the time to open them to get those breezes flowing throughout the house pays you back in enhanced comfort. Open windows bring in lots of fresh air when hosting an Open House. It can eliminate odors and free the Agents from identifying what smells are lingering in homes.

Open and close drapes or blinds as necessary. To either keep out the heat or let the heat in. Use fans to keep cool. Try not to let unwanted heat build up indoors. Wash clothes at night when the temperature is cool. Limit oven usage, instead use the grill or microwave. Use compact florescent bulbs, which are now more affordable and give off less heat than incandescents. Turn off televisions and appliances that are not being used to reduce heat these items may put out in your home.

Exhaust fans in baths and kitchen keeps humidity out of the house. Keep them running 10 to 15 minutes after a shower. Dress for weather and wear comfortable clothing instead of warmer synthetics.

When your energy bill arrives each month compare it to bills from the previous year. You will see why the only thing better than improved indoor comfort you get by saving energy is the money you save on your power bill.

Great energy saving tips. I always open the window to let the fresh air come in. It is great to have the furnace turned off now that the weather has warmed up and the sun is hot. When it is sunny I make sure I let that natural sun heat come in.
