Okay fellow computer users! Have any of you heard about or considered purchasing a Tread Desk? Better yet, are any of you using one?

I just heard about this invention last week, and it is very intriguing. The concept is a treadmill that you walk slowly on while doing your daily computer work (including blogging), and the computer table is either attached to the treadmill or detached with adjustable legs straddling your current treadmill. The version with the attached table is quite pricey, but it sure looks nifty.
Apparently, this was invented by Dr. Levine at the Mayo Clinic as a result of a brilliant idea and a test he performed on 15 volunteers. His studies concluded that you could burn an extra 100 calories per hour by just walking 1 mile per hour while working on your computer. What a concept! And you probably wouldn't even break a sweat... Think of it; no more gym:) Kill two birds with one stone, etc., etc...
These treadmill work stations are being marketed to large companies to provide to their employees who work all day on the computer and don't have time to exercise in the hopes of decreasing doctor visits and sick time. Could be very cost-effective.
I can multi-task! When I do manage to get on the treadmill, I usually read, watch TV and listen to music all at the same time, so how hard can it be to work on the computer and walk at the same time?
I have to admit that I have become a little "bottom heavy" as a result of sitting all day long. Some of the results I have heard about are 25 lbs lost in 2 months for a patent attorney (I am sure he is on the treadmill more than most) and 50 - 60 lbs lost in a year if you walk slowly on the treadmill while working on your computer 2 hours a day.
If you are interested, one of the websites selling this equipment is Tread Desk. I also understand that Dr. Levine has his own version, but I haven't yet found that on the web. I do not sell this product or endorse it -- yet, that is -- but I would love to hear if any of you have embraced this new technology and what you think about it before I get out the credit card...
Here's to becoming svelte again!

It starts with a dream...
I had considered the Tread Desk a couple of years ago although I don't know if it was called that. I wound up getting the recumbent bike desk, which is great.
