Real Estate in Cedar City

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

This afternoon our local board of Realtors held their monthly luncheon, with the swearing in of our new board of directors.  We had the President of the UAR, David Mansell,  come from Salt Lake City to do the installation.  He has been in the business since 1970, and pointed out that as bad as things are, they have been worse for the sale of real estate.  We still have great interest rates, not the double digit rates of the early 1980's with high inflation rates.

At no time did Mr. Mansell say that we should hide our heads in the sand, but his message was one of hope.  He made the statement that the days of coasting at Real Estate are over, and that now it was going to take hard work to make a living selling real estate in any market in the United States.  I always thought that hard work was what was main ingredient of success in any endevour.

He mentioned that after 38 years working in the Real Estate industry, he still loves coming to work each day.  He also said that if you love what you do, eventhough it is hard work, it won't seem like work.  I think that their is wisdom to be found in this.  We are in a difficult situation, it is one that we as individual Realtors can do little about, but that doesn't stop us from doing our best to succeed.

Another comment that he made was that as long as you are serving your clients to the best of your ability, the money will take care of itself.  That it was in doing service is where joy is found. I hope that some of what I heard and tried to share will help us with our business.  The main thing that Mr. Mansell taught was find something positive to tell people when you talk to them.  Don't be like the media and be completely negative.  He pointed out time and time again if nothing else can be thought of, that there is a great inventory, and interest rates are great!  Have a Great Thursday!
