Realtor Networking

By
Real Estate Agent with A1 Connection Realty, Inc.

Sun City Center Realtors meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Friday, to network.

The events are hosted by local businesses such as Assisted living facilities, local builders, etc. The host provides a breakfast, which could be a light continental or a full course meal.

We usually have a guest speaker, followed by an open discussion period and a listing presentation segment where new or special listing are presented and reviewed.

Following the meeting the group caravans new listings, usually previewing 8 or more homes. In that we have a Gated Community within our community the caravan alternates between the two areas. One week the caravan will tour homes outside the gated area and the next meeting week the gated area is toured.

The meeting, which begins at 8 a m, usually last a total of two hours, one hour for the discussion segment and an additional hour for the caravan.

These meetings are viewed as a valuable business tool. Realtors interact with each other, (yes we do talk to our competition) provide useful information, and have the opportunity to preview current listings in a convenient, time efficient manner.

I once was of the opinion that the only thing that came out of meetings was people. However, I have found these get together's to be the exception. We build and promote camaraderie and that is a great thing.

Great for you Hal.  So many people are not willing to share.  Good for the area too!

Hal, I enjoy the networking meetings.  Not only do we get to meet other Realtors, but we also get some good information.  Also, the caravan gets me into homes I wouldn't normally see if I didn't have a buyer looking for that particular type of home.  It's great fun too.

Hi Bubba,

Yes it is, we have come to know each other on a personal as well as professional basis. Makes it easier to work a deal knowing who is on the other end.

I love events like this.  Not only are you able to keep up on market activities, but chat with other REALTORS.  And of course, I go almost anywhere, within reason, for food!!  LOL

Hal, the idea of networking with agents from several brokerages is a great idea.  We don't have that in my are (I wish we did).  I do enjoy having contact with other agents in my own way (the only way available right now) and building positive working relationships.

Good for you...sometimes it DOES work when people are less protective and more open to sharing...and less threatened....that IS professional !

Hi Laura,

I am with you, I will drive within a reasonable distance for food! It is a great in for us to have the relationship we have here in SCC.  More communities should do the same.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Networking is so beneficial to everyone. We get to know each other and can call upon those we know when there is a need. Maybe you could start up a session in your area. It sure would be worth a try.
