David,
Congratulations on the well-deserved feature. I'm printing this and sticking it on my desk!

Great post David,
Being an eternal optimist I like your attitude. Get out and make it happen. Being active on networks like the Rain is a great source of inspiration thanks for the info.
Steve
If you're failing at real estate - We are NOT failing at Real Estate , Real Estate is failing us. We have no control over economical situations !
Although I appreciate, really I do, your concept here and your positive attitude I think words like " If your Failing at Real Estate " or " Only the strong will survive " is a bit harsh. Someone diagnosed with cancer didn't ask for it, if the battle beats them did they fail, are they not strong ?
We as professionals did NOT ask for this, if one needs another job to take care of their children that is not " failure" that is heroism ! That doesn't make them weak...that makes them realistic.
Melissa makes a really good point!
Although, I always debate the "Professionals" title, since "Professional (Doctors and lawyers)" must go to school for years and years to earn their "Professional" status, whereas agents and take a 2 week class and be one! Of course then they can pay some dues and take a 4 hours ethics class and be promoted to 'realtor' status. Hardly worthy of legitimately being called a "Professional"
More of a "Tradesman". But her point remains the same. Good Point Melissa!
It will be interesting to see how m any agents pay their dues this year. I think the numbers will dwindle significantly. Enjoyed your blog!
David~I enjoyed reading your post and clicked over to a few of your other articles. Nice job. I also looked at the tailgate tags...I LOVE the idea, but am not to keen on putting it on the back of my car with adhesive...Have you heard reports of it damaging paint and/or people trying to steal or vandalism them?
Lots of good advice here. I am sure that these are challenging times for many of us. It is good to have a plan and your suggestions are very helpful! Now I have a long to do list ... so I have to get going! (lol).
Melissa - You certainly opened up a couple of cans of worms.
Regarding Real Estate...I've learned that some agents thrive during times like these. They've figured out marketing strategies that work. Others fail.
Regarding Cancer...We certainly didn't ask for it, but most people don't have any idea what causes it. I wrote a BLOG on the topic which you can find on the Better Health Group. Check it out.
As for the hard times many are going though...I just made a change as to which company I represent when it comes to helping people save their homes. I found one so much better, with no up front sign on fees. WE can help people before they get into serious trouble too, which I couldn't do before, and we can help with those nasty credit cards debt and get those bills lowered which can help a lot of people. This is a great business for Realtors to help them make it through the hard times. Send me a message or call me, I'll be glad to tell you about it. Helping homeowners doesn't take a lot of time and still allows Realtors to concentrate on their main task...selling homes!
Great reminder....too many agents are sitting back waiting for the market to change
I have a tailgate tag and people always ask about it. It is a great product.
Hi David,
You give really sound advice. I work for the newspaper in Las Vegas in real estate advertising. We have developed new packages for Realtors only and offer online agent packages that tie to their MLS listings for a minimal monthly fee. Our managers are willing to go the extra mile to help the Realtors and new home builders in this down economy. Please check with your local newspapers to see what kind of programs they are willing to develop.
Branding ad cannot be stressed enough. Even if you don't have any current listings, you still need to get your name in front of the consumer for name recognition. The buyer or seller will not call you when they can call someone whose name seems familiar.
Happy Selling!!!

David, I'll be speaking to you in 6 months! And before that too!
Thanks David. These are trying times and I WILL be one of the ones left standing when we get to the other side. I think the main thing I got from your notes is that I actually need to work. Real Estate is my job. I hope these hards times cause all those folks who got a license and took money without really providing service to leave our profession. It's a JOB. I love what I do, but I have to work. I have to constantly learn new things and actually provide service to my customers and clients. Your blog helped me today to get a little fired up. I WILL SURVIVE. In fact, I will thrive. Good luck to all REALTORS who are really working hard to be the best we can be.
I WANNA WIN TOO! I WANT US ALL THE WIN NOT JUST SURVIVE! Thanks for the small cheer leading/pep rally post! Sometimes I think we all get so down in the dumps it's hard to get back up, or slower to get back up! I hope I'm here in 6 months - the last 6 have been the worst on record for my 25 year career.
David
Thank you!!!Great post!!! WOW I think you said it all. If I may add one thing
" Successful people do things others don't like to do"

Thank you I am glad I saw your blog, I read some of the Read more and were very good thanks a million
The problem for many at the moment is promoting oneself on print. Internet is easy as most of it is free, but you also cut out the non users by emphasizing only on that which many are now doing. There will always be a need for a happy medium, for the foreseeable future (new generations are all very adapt to using cpus) at least. Print costs will also continue to climb coupled with the cost of paper as our forests get more and more depleted and as gas continues to go up (trends show the opposite for the future but that is at least the current status - despite it dropping greatly in the past 2 weeks). Overall one needs to employ a marketing strategy that adaps to changing conditions and knowing that this network provides us with both news on those changing conditions and on remedies to overcome tough situations, i'm sure we'll get around the current issues that face us. Just hang in there people and be smart. Look at your books and cut out unecessary expenses. This is a time to save, no matter how well off you are. Do it for your kids sake at least, who will, as it stands, probably not (will not) get social security when they retire.
Tailgate tags are a great idea btw. I checked it out just now and was surprised to see so many different ideas for 1 concept. I just finished commenting on all your posts within the one above and wow, you've really created some good content. I'll have to dig deeper into your blog to see what else you've contributed to this community but you're off to a great start and you just won over a subscriber. Keep up the good work my friend.
Great Ideas and thanks for you wisdom. I am going to order a tailgate tag.
Thanks for the info on tailgate tags. I'm going to order a couple today!
