Fox Carrington, food critic for the Nashville Scene calls Bombay Palace [....gem of an Indian restaurant....]
Last weekend, my wife and I decided we would try it. We are both foodies and love the unique experience of Indian cuisine and let me just say, we were not disappointed. We went during lunch and were immediately put at an open table. When we entered the restaurant, the first thing we noticed was the sweet aroma of Indian spice. The curries and cardamoms filled the room. It was nicely appointed and the owners and their staff were clearly experienced at making all their customers feel at home. They were polite and very attentive.
The lunch buffet was very fresh (one of my biggest concerns of buffets) and had many choices. I chose several items, including a "chefs special" rice with cardamom and turmeric and then added vegetable aloo, saag paneer, a lentil entree, potato entree and Tikka Masala. It was heavenly. The waiter brought a fresh serving of Naan, a indian flatbread that is literally slapped on to the side of a special oven and then allowed to bake. Some of the best I have had.
We plan on going back often, particularly since it is so close to where we live. The real test will be the Biryani. Our favorite Indian dish. If they pass that, which I have a very strong suspicion they will, then they have a customer for a long time.
They are open for lunch and dinner and are within walking distance of Vanderbilt, several offices and hotels on the West End corridor.
Recommendation: Definitely try it!
