Get out the Vote, Rock the Vote.  I do not particularly care how you vote.  Just vote.  In this critical time of American history in the making, we need to hear the voice of Oregonians.  We need to be a part of both the national and local landscape.  Do you really want to be the one vote that looses a measure you care about?  Do you want to be one of a few that do not elect the individual to office that you would prefer?  Your vote does make a difference.  Is it a cliche'?  You had better believe that it is.  But it makes does not make it any less true.

As a service to all who have been complacent in the past, I have compiled a few resources for you.  Go and check them out and get yourself registered to vote.  We are coming down to the last few days and you need to be proactive and register.  I am making it very simple for you.  To borrow a phrase from Phil Knight and Nike, "Just Do It".

In Oregon, our last day to register to vote is on this coming Tuesday, the 14th of October.  So read on, visit the links should you need to (or want to), and then VOTE!!

State of Oregon Seal

  • Clicking here will take you to an official Oregon Secretary of State Elections Division page.  On this page you can input your information and find out if you are on target to receive an election ballot later this month.  As of this evening when I checked my personal information, it had been updated through today.
  • If you are not registered, visiting this Secretary of State site will allow you to register to vote online.  It does not get much easier than that.  If you can find your way to this post, I am quite certain that you can register withthis method.  It will also provide you with information on Oregon's Vote By Mail, Election Guidelines, and other relevant information.  It is a good resource to use.
  • Finally, this page will get you the information on your particular county.  Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can contact your local county official.  It will provide you with the contact name as well as methods to get in touch with your local clerk.

Again, this is a crucial time in our history.  Whether you are passionate about politics or "just" concerned about the economy.  You need to participate.   Encourage others to do the same.

As I vote, I will be watching, reading, and writing.  :-)

Great Post Sarah!  I will reblog it.  I think every one should be a registered voter.  Way to get the info out there.

Right on Sarah. I think we should all be registered voters. It is one of the last freedoms we have. The drawback is jury duty.

Leslie ~  Thank you for stopping by.  I am glad to get it all out there as it is vital to the success of our country that people register (and actually vote).

Trevor ~ Jury duty can be a major pain.  It also has the potential to be very interesting, though.  I would love to handle a case where a hard criminal got what he deserved.  Thank you for your comment!  :-)

Way to go girl! This is what I tell EVERYONE! I don't need to persuade you to vote my way - but I do want every voice to be heard. I want everyone to feel like they have a vested interest and a SAY in how we run our world. How easily we complain, but we do have a bit of power.

I just read a great comment on another post that stuck with me and it applies here:  A man was on the beach tossing starfish back into the ocean. Another fellow says, "There are thousands of starfish washed up, you can't possibly make a difference." The man responded, "I just made a difference to that one, didn't I?"

THE POINT IS, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Great resources Sarah!

Sarah - here in Canada we did that yesterday resulting in very little change. We will continue to live with a minority government with the opposition having a differnet make up.

Good point, Sarah - Oregon might have a bit more of a say if we all use our mail-in-vote-empowerment sooner than later, too!

I'd like you to consider joining my group. REL has just opened up their domain and I think its going to be great for us as an industry.

Mike and the Kellys...

Thanks for your words of encouragement.  The real truth is that I am glad people voted and spoke their minds.  I will always be one who does my part to encourage that.  :-)
