BREAKING NEWS! More doom and gloom hit the air waves today. Today marked the 7th straight day decline for the DOW (the US stock market index), making investors fearful. One year after hitting an all time high on the DOW, the historic slide on Wall Street continues. The economic rescue plan will take time according to President Bush. We are at the beginning of a global recession reportedly. Locally in Ohio, NCR stock dropped a $1 and Vectren stock also fell. Across the Miami Valley, this puts many citizens' retirement plans in jeopardy. How does this translate in the housing market? Wright Patterson Air Force Base, as well as many other Greater Dayton area employers, continue to flourish and move new faces into the area. A national housing market forecast is comparable to a national weather forecast. It simply does not exist because, as with climate, the housing market is different in each state AND each city, each neighborhood, and more specifically each street. Montgomery, Greene, and Warren counties have not experienced the declining trend in home sales with the drastic rise and fall noted nationally. A home is, among other things, an investment into long term wealth. It is a fact that the market will, as always, change. Home prices will be much higher in five years according to 80% of economists. Why wait to buy a home, especially with the NEW $7500 tax credit?
