Well, earlier this week, I took some time off from Real Estate, and spent that time doing maintenance work on Kellie's and my sailboat: the SV 'Gibson Girl' that we have here in beautiful, La Conner, Washington.
The 'Gibson Girl' is a grand old sailboat: a 1972-vintage Cal 2-29. 29-feet overall, sleeps 6, and sports the classic hull design created by Bill Lapworth (back in the days when all calculations were done with a slide-rule!).
It dawned on me that - most folks don't know anything about La Conner, WA... let alone the fine facilities provided by "The Port of Skagit County - La Conner Marina." So let me explain:
La Conner Marina is located on the Swinomish Channel, here in Skagit County. To the north, Swinomish Channel exits to Padilla Bay. Around the corner to the left (westward) is the historic town of Anacortes, noted for fine food, fine hotels/motels, antique shops, and easy (ferry) access to the San Juan Islands - the farthest NW land claimed as part of the USA.
The city of La Conner is a treat unto itself. With a total population of about 800, it retains the small-town-old-town-feel. Museums, micro-brew-pubs, historic water-front businesses... it's all here. A great place to live, work or play!
Which brings me back to La Conner Marina. Kellie and I maintain our 29' sailboat here, and pay a mere $190/month for the slip where we tie up our boat. And that includes electrical, access to restrooms and showers... the works! I even have high-speed Internet here on the boat... contact me for details.
Finding properties in La Conner is tricky, but Kellie and I have connections. Click here for more information about La Conner.
