America’s Electoral Crisis – A Non-Partisan View

America VotesThe recent activities around the nation to register voters and rush them to vote prior to any vetting process is putting America on the road to having elections every bit as fraudulent as those under dictatorship.

Every voter in America should be required to properly register, have their eligibility verified, and provide a picture ID with a voter’s registration card at the poll in order to cast their vote for any election, be it a local, state or national election.

The argument that providing an ID will disenfranchise the poor, minorities, and the elderly has no merit.   States may offer those that do not drive a state ID that looks similar to the state’s driver’s license without providing the bearer the privilege of driving.

This brings up the argument that the homeless in America have the right to vote and that the homeless do not carry ID.

There is no reason that we cannot provide homeless citizens a valid voter registration card in the state of their choice.   With a little thought to the process and a computerized system of checks and balances any homeless citizen will have the privilege of voting.   Even the homeless know where and when they were born and can provide this information in order to get a valid voter registration card in the state of their choice.  What address will they use? They may return to the same place where they applied for their voter’s registration card to pick their card up.

One person, one vote.

Until this process is corrected, no election is by the people.

Deborah- Well, with ACORN out there registering Cats to vote and dead people, etc is just appalling. I told Nestor last night, this voter fraud thing is starting to sound like a third world country !

Well no election is by the poeple any way. We saw in 2000 how one candidtae could win the elecotral vote and lose the popular vote. But your comments in general about how this should be done are 100 percent correct. We do have the technology to do it.

I have been a poll watcher...you are correct...there is no ID requirement and you could easily shop the obituaries and go vote everywhere...the "system" is very broken.

Charlie, thanks for your feedback. If we didn't have electoral system, how would the less populated states compete against CA, FL, etc?  At least the electoral votes help level the playing field somewhat. What about voting shares?  If the largest state has, for the sake of argument, a million voters, do we give the state with 100,000 people 10,000 votes per person? Under this system voter share system, you personally could end up with, let's say, 5.7365 votes.  Puts a whole new spin on things, doesn't it?

Katerina, you must have read my original thought! I used third-world country but swapped it for dictatorship since I think dictatorship more clearly portrays the dangerous path we are traversing.

At first brush, it appears that the people are willingly allowing themselves to be taken down this slippery slope.  Right now this system of voter fraud appears to be working for the Democrats, which is perhaps why there is minimal outrage in the clearly pro-Obama media.  If this system was favoring the Repubs, the outcry would shake the foundation of the capital.

I think that regardless of party or candidate preference, every American should be outraged.

Sally and David, thanks for your input and observations.  With no ID and no proper registration, your vote can be stolen.  Quite disconcerting, isn't it?

This country is going to have to make some major changes. The ship is sinking and there are some who are just piling rocks onto the deck.

The electoral process including the electoral college needs to be overhauled. Until then we won't have an honest election.

The real question is:  "If we go to majority vote, does that mean we are ruled my mobocracry?"
