As Professional Home Stagers,  we do try to be as environmentally friendly or "green" as possible. In fact, Stagers always try to work with furnishings and accessories that the client already owns thus reducing waste.

Today, I discovered another "green" product called Milk Paint. This is a product that we can use and recommend to our staging clients when they need rooms painted. According to the website, Milk Paint is an organic paint, non-toxic and zero VOCs. It even claims to be self-priming, providing a flat, consistent finish. It comes in dry form and does need to be mixed with water.

There's a great testimonial page with comments about the product from people that have allergies, pregnant, etc. They all were extremely pleased.

If anyone has tried this product,  I would love to hear from you. Check out all the information at the Milk Paint website.

Cheryl, When I was looking for paint it was difficult to find natural paints and they were triple the cost. And while they said low to no VOC's they had a terrible odor. I have to go to this website and check it out---Thank you for the information!!

It is amazing what low VOC products they are coming out with now that consumers are really wanting them!  I'd love to hear also if others give this a try about the results.  I'm currently sold on Miller Divine paint which now is 99.8% no VOC even w/colorant but love to know what else is available!

Hi Darling!

YES...I've used milk paint before...but not this brand. I used it for craft projects. It has been around forever...from what I understand. I used it limitedly...never for a whole room. I had good luck with it. I'm curious to see what others have to say also. I LOVE natural products. GBU!!

Cheryl, Great Green solution. Nice colors, but I am surprised there are no beige selections. I will add it to my list of resources - thanks!!

Elizabeth is right, milk paint was used on furniture for centuries, notably on items we might consider "Colonial" or early American.  It's interesting that there are so many pre-industrial products and practices that are coming BACK into style after all this time that turn out to be Greener and safer.

Hi Cheryl - I've noticed that cabinet makers are returning to milk paint to capture the colonial look.  Love this idea!!!!
