Vacation Community Comes Together for Blogging Event

Services for Real Estate Pros with Viscape

Just as we predicted: Viscape University’s real estate blogging event on Monday night drew a packed house - virtual standing room only!  The gathering brought some of the most influential real estate professionals together for an exciting discussion surrounding blogging.

While we don’t know just how much beer and wine those of you participating from home were drinking (well, we do know of one anonymous participant who was sipping margaritas from a bar in the Caribbean!), it sounded like the audience was having a very good time (and learning, too!).  Real Estate Tomato’s Jim Cronin and Caribbean Islands Realty’s Jim Walberg kept us all entertained. At one point, they compared the discipline of blogging to dieting (yikes!) and told some great tales about their own blogging “adventures.”

The Jims told us that blogging isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes good content and sometimes a little humor (we try our best to hit the humor part here on Viscape’s blog). It takes knowing your audience and using relevant keywords that will help “Googlers” find your content.

And most of all, blogging takes some serious dedication. That’s why Jim Walberg, we learned, devotes two hours every evening-from 10 p.m. to midnight-to blogging. That’s why Jim Cronin coaches realtors to become more successful bloggers.

Sound challenging? Maybe, but as Jim and Jim pointed out, blogging is the “new advertising.”  It’s the best way to get leads without spending gobs of money on print and radio spots; it’s a way to establish yourself as an authority; and it’s the best way to become the realtor people want to get to know and turn to for market advice.
