This is on a personal note.  As I write this, Johnny Cash's home is on fire.  I don't know the extent of the damage, but the street is blocked off with all the fire trucks and equipment.  Barry Gibb bought the Cash property several months ago and has been renovating it.  Apparently a spark from a piece of equipment started the fire.

It's sad because the Cash's lived there for so many years, and I know they loved it very much.   It's been a part of our local history for so long, and the last few years has been very hard on their entire family.

If you're so inclined, you might want to say a prayer for the Cash family today!

What a loss. To know that it was a home that could continue his namesake after he was gone is a total shame. Prayers out to the Gibbs and hopes that it can be salvaged ..

I am a big Johnny Cash fan. When I was young, my dad would comb my hair like Johnny's. I hope you can keep us updated about this. I hope they don't have to demo the house?

It appears to be a total loss.  They just had some of the Cash family members on TV talking about their memories of family gatherings in the house.  It's so very sad!

They are reporting that the house was destroyed.  That is a real tragedy.

It was a wood structure......and from the neighborhood grapevine.....burned in about an hour.  Apparently some workers were applying a liquid sealant that caught fire from a spark.  The local news channels should have photos.  You might try www.newschannel5.com.

Wonder what the property is worth?

The Gibb family bought it for $2,300,000 but they have invested a huge amount in the renovations.  They are supposed to do a walk thru next week and decide what to do next.  The land could easily be divided up and sold as lakefront lots....but they may decide to rebuild.

It saddens me to hear of this home going up in flames.  My husband and I have driven by some many times while vacationing in TN.  One time to our delight John and June were in front of their house putting some fresh flowers in.  They were the best, we had back stage passes to one of their shows.  My husband and I loved them both and our hearts go out to the Cash kids and also Carleen Carter, I am sure that they all have fond, presious memories of that home.
