As the world's economies become even more interconnected, it's only going to get worse, especially for small countries population wise that don't have oil money or can't compete with the developing economies of a China.

Even though the U.S. still has some clout, what's gone on in the past eight years under the current administration has pretty well destroyed our standing in the world, so much so that the country of Iceland, facing bankruptcy, didn't turn to the U.S. for a $4 billion bail-out. A mere $4 billion! Instead, they turned to Russia. Russia! Yes, Russia!.

If we don't get together with Canada, Mexico, and the countries in Central America and South America to create an American Union, we're going to be left in the dust by the European Union, China, Japan, and OPEC. With $10 trillion in debt, eventually some rich country is going to call our debt due because it's too large. At that point, we'll be facing federal bankruptcy. Perhaps Saudi Arabia will come to bail us out. We could become a fiefdom to their kingdom and have that religious theocracy that so many religious pundits push so hard for. Ooooooops. I guess it would be an Islam theocracy instead of the Christian theocracy they were hoping for. Oh, well.
