History: 

Founded in 1859, Fountain, CO is named after the creek that runs just west of the town. Historically a farming and ranching community, Fountain is becoming a fast growing suburb of Colorado Springs. Fountain was named Americas Millennium City by the New York Times because its population best represents the population make-up of the United States. It was also named 2002 All American City by Mel Martinez, Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development.

School districts:

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8- 2005-06 enrollment of 6200 with an average graduation rate of 94%.

Widefield School District 3- 2005-2006 enrollment of 8641 with an average graduation rate of 90%.

Local Miltary bases:

Ft Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Shriever Air Force Base, Air Force Academy

Parks, golf courses,and recreational activities:                                                  

Can all be accessed at the Chamber of Commerce.

The population in Fountain is 15,197 and has 5219 housing units. Homes are still very affordable in the Fountain area with Average Sales Price in 2006 at $182,148. Median Sales Price was $179,950
