PURPOSE - A century from now it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, or how much money I had in the bank...But one hundred years from now the world may be a better place, because I was important in the life of a child.
Our society as a whole is caught up in having the nicest car, a big beautiful house and lots of money in the bank.
If you subscribe to today's inspiration, those things don't matter. Many of us have a nice car and a big beautiful house. If you look at the global economic condition, many of us no longer have lots of money in the bank. The Dow is down about 40% from its highest point. We are faced with a very serious liquidity crisis.
Do not panic! According to a news report I heard Friday night on the radio; in 2002 the Dow was down 38%. Almost every 5 or so years since the Dow has existed, it has dropped 35% to 38%. We have seen this movie before...
So, the market will return. It always does and oh by the way, back to our PURPOSE...It is important to make the world a better place by becoming important in the life of a child.
Since everyone reading this will be dead one hundred years from now (unless something incredible happens scientifically,) how many of us have thought of what kind of life and purpose our great-great-grandchildren have? It is very unlikely that they will know who we were except by pictures or maybe via some family heirlooms.
We tend to live in the "now." We always have and probably always will. Since that is the case, what kind of importance do you place on being involved in your children and/or grandchildren's lives? Do you volunteer in your community to help, assist or teach anything to children so that they have a chance to make the world a better place for their children and grandchildren?
Make the world a better place. Start being important in a child's life by participating in it now. It is too late once you are gone.
