Week-ends are a time for relaxing with family and friends...at least that's what I always thought. Growing up we did our Saturday chores as fast as we could, so we would have time to hang out, and play. Well, as Grown-ups we still want time to play. Incorporating what we enjoy into a day of fun can be quite easy with a little creativity.
I love Photography, and have taught all my Grandkids a little something about it. Their mother loves taking photos, so how about a Photo Scavenger Hunt? The family is all together, it costs nothing, and everyone gets to participate.
We decided we would go to the Beach and then to Julian, a mountain mining town. Once we knew where we were going we made up our list.... everyone got to pick something, and our list had some very easy things, and some "you need to look" things :) We divided into 2 teams with one adult and a couple kids on each team. Then we formatted our memory cards, and started off......
Our Lists included:
A Rusted Wagon- This is the only different photo, the 9yr. old found this wagon.
Everyone else took a picture of the same wagon at the same deserted building. Only one of the 6 of us has a different photo....and maybe because it is different it won that category :)
This picture was taken by C. Norte 9 years old.
When we made the list we thought we were going to a Mountain Mining Town. We changed the plans because of "Hunger" so had to improvise. Category- "Mining".

This photo was taken by the 10 year old on the other team. We had stopped at the lagoon to find a Soda Can in Water....
Everyone got the same shot. There was a small Visitors Center with displays, an interactive area, crafts etc.
Well, talk about creative. My daughter and grandson told the people in the Visitors Center what they were doing and the Hostess's pulled out some magazines with pictures of the subject matter. Here is my Grandsons contribution for "Mining".

Another thing on our list everyone really complained about....ohhh we'll never find that. We were to find an "old lady at a Fruit Stand".....these next 2 pictures showed not only creativity but the fun we were having.

I had to leave out the lady, but imagine a lady possibly in her 40's looking over her glasses at the end of this "fruit" display.
This is a photo from the 5 year old. I love some of her "fruit" photos, and she has a great eye for finding things. In fact because of this her team named themselves "The Eagle Eyes".

This Photo was taken by my daughter as she was sitting in the car. She saw this fruit stand, and a lady was buying fruit so she pulled over. My team jumped out of the car, we were "The Roadrunners".
What you see here is we were taking a picture of someone wearing Boots :) When we saw this picture later we laughed at how creative that was.....:)

And just to round out the creativity from my team, the next picture was our vision of "Resting."

We went to the San Luis Rey Mission and tried to find a squirrel, and a couple other things on our list. The Mission has a Cemetery, and the gate was open.....saving us the entrance fee to the Mission :)
I had the "Mermaids of the Group" the Thinkers.....and this was our creative version of "Resting."

We had a wonderful day....full of laughter, exercise and creativity. The cost was minimal and the memories will last a lifetime.
So use your creativity and have a good week.
No matter what we have in life, we can still afford to be creative :)

As always you have wonderful 'games' to play with the kids. I wish I were creative....I think if I ever have grandchildren I'll be remembering all these posts to use with them :)
Thanks for the tour.....hug the kids for me :)
