A warm and fuzzy tale about the power of Active Rain

I was out and about showing homes on Friday in Columbia, Maryland. Once all the showings were complete and I had said farewell to my clients I checked my phone for any activity. My rule of thumb is that I put my PDA phone on vibrate and leave it in the car while showing homes. (I always carry a smaller phone with me on showings for basic safety reasons)

Along with three missed calls was a number with a different area code that I did not recognize on the call log. I checked my voice mail to get any messages.

The mystery number was a friend and co-worker of yester-year who I had not spoken to or seen since 1992 when he left Daytona Beach and headed to Colorado. I subsequently left the beach in 1997 and moved to Maryland.

He had googled the words "Team Glug" and lo and behold a blog that I had posted back in January of 2007 had popped up.

To Blog or not to Blog?

Two words that will probably mean NOTHING to 99.9999999% of the population, but something we have in common.

He read my blog, was tickled pink to find out that I, a self proclaimed (back in my twenties I must add) non-maternal person was now completely in love with a handsome 2 year old little boy.

Ellie McIntire and Drew

I called him immediately and it was like the past 16 years were just yesterday. We caught up on family and friends and talked for over an hour until his phone battery started to beep.

Thanks Active rain for putting a big smile on my face.

The power of AR is indeed amazing.  I think it is wonderful that you have connected with an old friend thanks to your blogging.  I love the picture of you and Drew.  Thanks for sharing your warm and fuzzy story.

That's great!  I love to hear stories like that.  The internet has made the world smaller.

Ellie,

I have quite a few long lost friends that I want to track down. Want to know what I do in some of my posts? If I am telling a story where i could just say 'that guy', I will use a long lost friend's name. I have had one buddy from high school send me an email and we have reconnected.

One of the auxillary benefits of the SEO power of ActiveRain :-)

This is a warm and fuzzy story for two reasons - that you connected with an old friend and the great photo of your son - what a cutie!  Isn't funny that you would connect with someone from an old blog - the power of AR - it's amazing.  Thank you for sharing. ~ Anne Marie
