I have not had much time to post due to the changes Ike borough to our lives.  I wanted to post a few pictures I took just days after the storm.  I have so much to say about this storm, Galveston, lack of media coverage, lack of govt support, and of course real estate in Galveston.  Right now I think these photos will speak for themselves.  Say a prayer for the people we so hold dear in our hometown.  My brother got 12 feet of water while most of my friends lost their homes as well.  Many Galveston agents are not even able to sufficiently work.  God bless you all.

Here is the old Gaido's Billboard on 45.  The Gaido family was awesome after the storm.  The opened up their hearts to feed so many.  They truly embody Galveston.

Above is a photo taken off Harborside drive.

I think this photo speaks for itself.

Here is one of the gift shops that use to sit on a pier.

I will continue to post photos.  I am working on an informational page that will be featured on my Galveston real estate website.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were touched by Ike.  Lets hope we can continue to work as one while we rebuild the place I love.

I was there this past week for a conference at Moody Gardens. I was so touched by the resilience of the people. My prayers are being offered for all of you. I know Galveston will come back better than before!

I don't think the Texas devastation has gotten as much media attention as New Orleans did after Katrina.  Perhaps a different scale to the damage but still tremondous.  Hang in there!

I'm glad I got to eat at Gaido's, and have a drink at the Balinese room last August on my first and only visit to Galveston. I still can't believe it's not there any more. Best of luck to you and your family, and thanks for the photos.

Cheers,

Robin

Sassy you are so correct.  My hubby is a system administrator 9and agent) who attended a computer security meeting this last week.  Certain areas were blocked from allowing media to even take photos.  I will post more on this 9as I keep digging for answers).  Our economy is largely funded by tourism so that may be the key.  its not quite so fun to talk about when we have an election at hand.  most of the national media just said Houston was sparred.  We were by no means sparred.  We have hundreds of people who are yet to be accounted for.  I believe over 70 have been found dead nationwide so far.  Its very much a Katrina but just not as much fun to talk about.

Robin- I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.  The Balinese room with be forever missed yet I bet we find a way to pay tribute to the old gambling house once we have the time.  Gaido's still has its signature crab outside which makes me smile.

Marie- Thanks so much for your kind words.

No matter what anyone says about damages caused by natural disasters, it is hard to fathom the realities without seeing pictures like these.

Very true Erik very true.  I cannot tell you how emotional it is just to drive around.  The house I spent my childhood in got 4 feet of water.  Still very shocking to us all.

Christina, I have been wondering how you fared.  The devastation is just incredible!!  I just talked to a friend who has two houses down towards Jamaica and everything below the house is gone.  She said a sting ray was still swimming in her pool.
