Give a Little.....Gain a Lot.

Everyone wins

There have been many situations during the course of my life where I have had to give a little in order to gain a lot.

In relationships - It's definitely a give and take situation. Though I keep healthy boundaries it's still impertive that I give a little and I don't always have to win.
In business - It's also a give and take situation where I have contributed credits, items or repairs so the transaction works....runs smoothly.

A few months ago one of our trees by our bedroom was cut down because it was diseased. During high winds there were branches that broke and often landing so close and threatening to crash through our windows.

Understandable. But the afternoon sun has been beating harshly into our bedroom for these last few months.

Two weeks ago I put in a request to our resident manager and association. I would donate two palms (I have many in huge pots in my little fenced courtyard) if they would plant one in place of the dead tree.....so that maybe one day it would shade not just my bedroom, but the bedroom of our next door neighbor too.

They could have the other tree to plant around our community in place of another tree that they had to cut down (many were disposed of because they were diseased)

The palm is happy...it has room to grow and will shade our bedroom sooner or later. I mean...just look at her now!

The moral of the story is this. No matter what we do in life there will always be a situation where it will require us to give a little in order to gain much. Be stubborn and you're left with nothing.

Sally, Interesting that if you give to people, you really do get back tenfold. I know there are those that suck the life out of us, but all in all we end up benefiting more by giving.

It's good to know another tree is replacing the old one. The trees give back to us, much more than we give to them =)

Audrey: No keeping mental banks...we give if we WANT to....and in return we give ourselves the thought that we did it from the heart. If we cannot do so ....then don't. That is our gift....keeping healthy boundaries :) I know one thing....if it were all MY way in my marriage it'd be quite boring :) :)

Lisa: No kidding....and with the one I gave....it is happy....spreading its roots :) :)

Sally very well put about us having to give and take in life.

But as far as "not having to win", well just say that I am a little to competitive, and I always try to win :) :)

Sally, Good lesson....we don't get a thing when we can't work something out with someone....give a little and sometimes you get a lot. I'm wishing lots of shade for you soon!

George: Go ask your wife if you always win LOL! You may try but I reallllly doubt you get your way all the time in that department lol!

Good Morning Sally! This is a great example of how simple it really is to "give" and what a difference that makes for our entire surroundings. I hope that your little palm takes on a major growth spurt so that you can enjoy the shade soon.

You should have called me...I have plenty of palms for ya...you would just have to ship them to yourself...the postage would be outrageous and the FDA might spend more time inspecting them:)

Sally, Very good subject matter that can never be stated enough. We all need to be reminded of this.
