Canadian National do not call list- Yikes!

Just wanted to share a little info I've learned recently on our new do not call list

This list was established on September 30, 2008 and the rules are as follows,

No Sales Representative shall initiate a solicitation call OR fax to any residential number on the National Do Not Call list. Excpet where a consumer has consented to the call. This has to be direct consent, someone's brother may not say here's Joe's number he wants you to call him.

If any sales representative makes a solicitation call to a number that is not on the list and they ask to not be called again the sales representative must put their name on the Internal office do not call list and all sales representaitves must check this list as well before making any solicitation calls.

A sales Representative is allowed to contact a cllient/customer for 18 months after a contract however, should the client/customer ask you not to call them again the number must be given to the office to be placed on the internal do not call list immediately.

The fine for making a solicitation call to an individual on the do not call list is $1500 per offense to the Sales Representative. This is not covered by errors and omissions insurance.

Just a little heads up for anyone who wasn't quite sure of the details. I believe most offices will be subscribing to the list so just remember to go and check the do not call and the internal do not calls lists in your offices before making any solicitation calls.  Also when running open houses and having guests fill in the registry you should have a spot that asks them clearly whether or not they are giving consent to your call.
