Just because Jason is a highly successful Real Estate broker in Austin, TX, one of the top-notch bloggerson Active Rain with a huge following, (I know he managed to post 10 blogs on AR during the party...but I can't prove it, yet!) plus it also happened to be the day before his 38thbirthday, but that does not give him the right to rob me (Liz Carter, Real Estate broker in Katy, TX, (and not one of the top bloggers on Active Rain) of a month of my precious time. I inflicted severe mental anguish on myself during this time also. I mean who does Jason think he is? Jason is a big hearted bear of a man, with a quick & remarkable sense of humor, an avid reader and blogger of quality post, kind, good natured, willing to help everyone, faithful servant, honest, caring and so much more. Jason is a good man, a loving son, husband, father (of soon to be four great kids) and my friend. So I forgive myself for going so NUTS on this "Slide Show"...you deserved better though...oops I forgot, I forgive myself.
However I felt I had to bring to your attention the "dark side of Jason", he gets to know people, really know them so you are at his mercy. He cares and gives so much that you want to return the favor. We met on Active Rain, and we got to know one another, so he knows my strengths and weaknesses and can use me with his clever ways. So I have spent the last month, and untold hours trying to make a presentable slide show of the Active Rain gathering/Birthday Party he so graciously arranged, hosted and paid for in August at the County Line restaurant in Austin TX. It was a big hit, TX Bloggers, friends, some special clients & his family were on hand. See Jason knows I'm compulsive, obsessive, over the top, out of control, type AAA personality, and I HAD to make a GREAT slide show of our Austin get together for him.
After putting together at least two dozen slide shows in different programs I have managed to turn out a less than"GREAT" slide show. It is passable at best and might be the worst one I've ever done, although some of the captions. are pretty funny. table all by himself :) AT LAST, my mediocre attempt at creating something very special for, My Special Friend Jason Crouch.
I hope you enjoyed it, and please NO COMMENTS on the misspelled words in the captions...I know they are there, OK! Laugh & Enjoy. It has been brutal for me, but I'll spare you the gory details...unless you really want to hear some funny, dumb things I did during this "slide show fiasco". The picture of lady on road is kinda how I felt after attempting 10-12 Maybe I'll do a post on it later...much latter :-)
PS...A FEW OTHER FACTORS (besides my inept computer skills, and obsessive need to have it perfect),FOR THE DELAY OF THIS POST;Hurricane Ike decided to pay us on the Gulf Coast at Galveston a little visit, Houston, Katy, & Spring all get the brunt of storms in our area.We had over TWO MILLION+ PEOPLE WITHOUT POWER for weeks, and some still have none! Thensome very nasty little devil bacteria bugs decided to make my lungs there permanent residence. They moved in 3 ½ weeks ago, and for the last week have been here at the hospital with me. They must really like me, the doctors at St. Luke's in the Medical Center of Houston (one of the finest in the world), have been hitting them with everything short of a nuke bomb (I nixed that idea). I'm hoping to get sprung tomorrow or the next day, and they are not coming back to my home with me! There is just not enough room in there for me and all of them, they are nasty roommates plus they have NOT PAID ANY RENT...so they're outta here by gosh.UPDATE; iJUST GOT SPRUNG...at home, yes it feels great! I've really missed Active Rain, and my friends here.
Jason, my friend you are the best and congratulations to you and Pam on the upcoming birth of your 4th child, Liz
Another glitch posting....I get not ever get the spacing on my embedded code sized to put the slide show where I wanted it (PAR FOR THE COURSE ON THIS PROJECT :), so HERE IT IS AT LAST!
Liz - This was simply spectacular. Thanks for your hard work putting it together! You have been in my prayers lately after I heard about your lung "guests" from Marchel. I am going to feature this post in Family Ties. I hope we can talk sometime soon. God bless you!
Liz my dear, this was awesome! The slide show actually captured much of our fun together. Thank you so much for putting this together. I am sorry you've had such a difficult time lately. I am keeping you in my prayers and I know you will get through this with flying colors! I miss talking to you. The phone works both ways so call me when you feel like visiting. I love you friend.
LIZ, Dang you get straight out of the hospital and have this posted. You are quite INCREDIBLE!!! I'm glad to hear that you are out. I'll be praying that nasty cough goes away quick.
Hey Miz Liz -- Glad to see you're out of the hospital -- hope those nasty guests in your lungs are gone!! Been praying for you to get better fast! You know you have to take it easy (which is difficult for you and me) but you can do it, so you can get all better and we can plan another AR Gathering!!!
Hi Sweetie, This post is incredible. I suppose you were working on it in the hospital. The slide show is awesome. Lots of work, I can see why you had some trouble with it. It is really great. You always outdo yourself. Glad you are home! Keep resting and taking care of yourself. You are in our prayers, Love you! :)
Liz...I know this was a pain to put together but it is wonderful and I've enjoyed every minute. I am so glad you are feeling better and you are a truly remarkable person. GI appreciate getting to know you and it looks like I may be able to make it to Houston so hopefully I will see you there!
Sure am glad you are back home with your friends, and you are doing better. Place don't be over doing things. We need you to be around with us. Just lay back a little more, don't be staying up so late. Playing in the AR community.
Liz: That was an absolutely, positively awesome slide show! Thank you for sharing it on AR. Looks like you all had quite a 'Celebration!' On a personal note, you are in my prayers for a complete recovery. Glad to hear you are out of the hospital and home. Nice to see you back on AR.
Liz, you did a super job with this show. I am so sorry that you were sick but awfully glad you are home at last!! xxoo Jason and everyone else, including Rhett all looked like they had a blast!
Great slide show, looks like everyone had a good time, I know it makes me wish I had been there, B-days are special and Jason did it up right this year!
You Guys are so wonderful! I always "feel the love" when I'm on AR, how cool is that. Improving, walked about the lake for the last 3 days (1.24 miles), it took me 30 min., so had to go slow...but I did it!
Almost caught up on e-mail, down to 156 :-)...and looking so forward to getting by to see all my friends in the rain, I've missed you all.
I have a list of blogs I want to do that should take me through the next 5 years...hope some of them will help or touch you in some way. There are many people here I need to thank in public also, so hopefully I can begin this week.
Glad you liked the slide show, I think I was being so critical of it because I took so long, and messed up so many times getting it done...I like it too...now :-)
Stay healthy and happy and get ready to play in the rain with me.
Liz, myself and many I have told about your appendicts condition have all been praying for you. Marchel gave us all the news so you have an angel there. Welcome home when you get back. Speedy recovery to you.
Hi Liz! I know you are going through quite an ordeal and just wanted you to know we are thinking of you and praying for your health. I think of you often!
Thanks for the great advice. I will check back often. I really like the blog. I am new at blogging but I am beginning to learn quite a bit from reading blogs like the ones I find on Active Rain. If I can ever be of help just visit my blog or my website: http://yournowwhat.com
Hey Buddy...yes I'm back thank God ! And He had a big part in it. I'm glad to see Russell is busy blogging away. I have a lot of catch up to do and really looking forward to it. I've MISSED YOU. L
Alan, now that is one of your better ideas, I think you should encourge the broker to wear one like that at all times....send phots :). Don'g forget I still have "THAT PICTURE". MISSED YOU TOO. L
Garu. thanks so much, seing eveeryones kind words, cards, calls, etc., sure has made me feel great. Some of my laterst sago is pretty funny (and scarry), so I am going to do a blog about my last 29 days in the 2 hospitials and the 2 operations. What ever you do....NEVER GO TO THE HOSPITAL IN MEXIA :). L
Thanks for stopping by, I've missed you and hope you have been very busy selling real estate and bloging while I've decided to move into the hospital, and have operations...gotta keep your sense of
humor:). Couldn't figure out how to change the name to Ms. Carter. In fact they have changed so much I'm still trying to figure it out! Just when I thought I was so close to knowing my way around the "Old AR". I'll have to get you to help me now. Hugs L
Gotta keep that :). Hell I can't sell real estate here in TX. Basically I have not worked hardly any this year. God bless Sandie and the rest of the team, we still closed 130 in 2008, but that does not work well when your budget is 160 closed, but I'm very grateful for that and everything. I feel so blessed to be alive, He must have something planned for me.
I'm going to write a post on my 2008, it was one hell of a year for me. Some saying about if it does't kill you it makes you stronger. I'm still at home recovering, but at least I feel good enough to get back on AR and do some work from home. I sure have missed you and happy to be back, L
Liz!!! Get your little butt in bed and get some rest - you are restricted from your old habit of late night blogging. DR Oakley's orders.
The AR changes have been great for us - even more Google juice - you will catch on in a tiny Texas minute, can't keep a good woman down. Are they still looking for you in the hospital or did they figure out that you packed up and went home?
Liz, how are you. I saw where you were making comments so that has me thinking you are getting better. We have missed you and need you to get back to your old self!!
Yes it was a great party! This was the 2nd get together for the Texas AR Members, we had our first one just a couple of months before. That first one cemented our Internet friendship to "real person friendships". The 2nd one most of the same people were there with several new people to meet. Texas is just a really friendly state! Only state that teaches more about TX history than US history All those stories about us bragging all the time are true! Liz
Hey Gena...
Yes I was doing great and then I got pneumonia and back to St. Luke's I go....YIPPIE. Guess I need to change my address. Just got out again today, so this stay was only a week. Feeling pretty good for all the other surgeries, now I just need to get my lungs back in shape. Love Ya, Liz
Hi Liz! Your good buddy Jason has us all thinking of you now and I just want you to know that you're in our hearts and prayers. Take care, get plenty of rest and do what the doctors tell you and whatever you do--have someone bring in the food for you--stay away from the hospital food! ;-)
Trust me I am taking very good care of myself, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired...just not my style. But keep those prayers comeing just in case :) Liz
Debe...
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers too. Acutally St. Luke's has the best food in all the Houston Medical Center, a truly great hospital. I plan to write a post on it soon. Stay Healthy, Liz
Here is a link to a new post I wrote about my friend Jason....
