I was driving home from a friend's house yesterday and I heard sirens everywhere! I was already stopped and sitting at a traffic light, so I looked around and there was smoke in the air and fire engines and police cars were frantically passing me by. I had already seen helicopters in the area circling.
Not all of us, even with last year's wild fires behind us, if we are at work, are able to know if our homes are in danger should there be another fire started by a Santa Ana wind. And I would guess that even if we know our neighbors well, many do not stay at home during the day and/or are unable to call their neighbors at work to warn them.
Well, lo and behold in my email today, l received from a friend an email originating from the Tony Robbins company, informing us of a website where we can register our cell phones to be called in case a fire breaks out near our home. It is called ReadySanDiego.org
If you have no landline, as many users have opted to only carry cell phones, this is the service for you!
So, check it out and sign up, if you would like to be notified in case a fire breaks out near your home.
It was set up by the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services and it doesn't hurt for all of us to be better prepared in case of a fire.
