The coveted, premier development parcel on the East Coast is officially up for sale.Mayor Evans announced that the Requests for Proposals for Bader Field are available to anyone interested. All proposals must be submitted by 5pm January 14, 2009.  The RFP is looking for a developer or several developers with the best ideas and concepts to maximize the potential of this 150 acre waterfront property.  The proposal could include, but not limited to, casino, hotel, retail, entertainment, residential and commercial uses in a vibrant mixed-use waterfront resort and entertainment district.

As the process progressed from public forums for input in the future development of Bader Field that were conducted in all 6 Wards to the public meetings that were held for residents input in the development of the new City Master Plan also in all 6 Wards it seems that the word of the residents did not fall on deaf ears. The Master Plan and the guide lines for the RFP's calls for mixed use development.

The City has engaged the global real estate firm of Jones Lang LaSalle to oversee the disposition of Bader Field and through the City they will accept bids from developers willing to develop the entire parcel or parts of it.  At the press conference Paul J. Mas, Executive Vice President of Jones Lang LaSalle announced that they were most interested in a ground lease development agreement. The Civic Associations through out the City have been consistent in asking, "Why do we have to sell Bader Field?" It appears that again the City is attempting to listen to the City Residents who have been hit with the tax increases due to the first revaluation of their properties in over 20 years.  The decisions made as to the sale or ground lease will determine the long term future of the long term residents of Atlantic City.

For more information as to the position of the Atlantic City Civic Associations I can be contacted directly at 609-457-7397.
