Come out and eat some pancakes! It's for a good cause

Tonight (October 16th, 2008) is the 27th Annual Pancake Supper sponsered by the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach.  For a $6 donation you get to eat as much breakfast food as you can handle.  Six bucks per person is less than I spend eating out, even at the local Sonic usually.  There are two locations to choose from in Myrtle Beach and tickets are being sold at the door.  It's a great chance to help a good community cause (they are working on making our water safer), meet some new people and spend some time with people you already know.  Did I mention pancakes?  I'll even eat the first one.

The supper is taking place at two locations from 5-8 PM tonight:

Harrys Breakfast Pancakes, 2306 N. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, SC

Southern Pancake House, 7100 N. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, SC

Come on out, I'll wave since my mouth will hopefully be full of pancakes!

Marie  - food is definitely a huge part of my life (not sure if that's a good thing or not), but yes ActiveRain seems to be exposing the pancake obsession...uh oh

Kristin - I'm excited!  Pancakes are the best!

On my visit to Myrtle Beach this summer, I could not help but notice all of the pancake houses.  Then you had your pancake blog, and now this.  I'd really like to know what the deal is with pancakes and Myrtle Beach.

Karl - Maybe it's more of a deal with me and pancakes...I would end up living in a city with pancakes galore!  But yes, Myrtle Beach loves its pancake houses.

Fellow Pancake Enthusiasts: May I beg your kind indulgence in bringing to your attention a new book that may be of interest, written by yours truly, entitled Pancake, just released yesterday from Reaktion Books and available on amazon and Barnes and Noble. Both pleasant and diverting, filled with historical anecdotes and pancake ephemera from around the world. Plus delightful recipes.
Yours, Ken Albala

Jenn - I'll have to get a recommendation from you on the best pancake house before my next trip down there.

Ken - Sounds good!

Karl - That just gives me an excuse to try more pancake houses.  You stay up toward the north end right?  I am down in Surfside but I can broaden my horizons and let you know.  It will be my pleasure.

Jeremy - Thanks!  I blame you for getting me into this!!!  I have spent lots of time on here in the past couple weeks.  Not that I'm complaining. =)

Jenn - I stay in Little River.  The first place we stopped to eat down there was the Waffle House.  I'm sure some of the local places are better than a chain.  Maybe you could get a side job as a pancake critic.
