I voted today. Union County NC residents, you can vote too! North Carolina allows early voting for everyone. The State Board of Elections calls it No Excuse Absentee voting. Early voting started today and I was voter number 48 this afternoon at my polling place. It was easy and it was fast.
What do you need to know about early voting in Union County?
- Early voting takes place between October 16th and November 1st.
- Union County has designated five polling places for early voting: Hemby Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Stallings Volunteer Fire Department, Wesley Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, the Union County Public Library in Monroe, and the Wingate Community Center.
- Voting hours are between 10am and 6pm weekdays and between 9am and 1pm on Saturdays.
- If you are not yet registered to vote, you may register and vote at the same time.
What do newcomers need to know about registering to vote in North Carolina?
- You must be a US citizen.
- You must be 18 years of age or older by Nov. 4th.
- You must be a resident of North Carolina and the county precinct where you want to vote for at least 30 days before the election.
- You must not be a convicted felon still in custody, on probation, or on parole.
